for clarity:

the grouping starts at ojai. not in maricopa. hw33 is a nice twisty fast road with changing elevation....your skill level on that condition depends on which group you should be.

the plan is to leave in intervals, and the 3 groups will leap frogs. once the group in front sees the next group pulling in, and get a nod confirming that everything is ok, then they will take off.

stops (see gps waypoints)
1. usfs off hw33 before lockwood.
2. maricopa gas station, once we get there, first thing to do is get gas
3. group 1 and 2 - elkhorn and belmont (not elkhorn and hw58).
4. pozo rd. and hw58
5. pozo saloon

Chris,
I'll be joining the slow group at the gas station in Maricopa after dropping the truck of in Pozo or Hi Mtn and riding back east along with fudgypup to meet the big group. In other words, don't wait for me in Ojai cause I won't be there!

Thank you, got it. We should see you and Eric in Maricopa. You got hooked up with him okay right?

I put one on my Husky, but didn't bother with the Versys. With a lot of vibration the batteries rattle enough to shut it down. With one of these I can wire it into a park lamp in the headlight or something close.

I've called REI, went to Fry's. Nada yet. Plenty online but want to pick one up today.

Garmin or Gilson power adaptor for Garmin GPS 60cs

EDIT: I think I found one at West Marine. Thanks Johngil!!

For everyone on the Garmin power lead - thank you, got one at West Marine at noon and it's already installed and works great.

BTW, for anyone doing these, the slick setup is to connect to the park lamp plug connector, either at the harness or at the lamp. Start by stripping a quarter inch of insulation off your new wire. The little brass blades will pop out of the clip connector housing. Then pry up the barbs that hold the insulation part of the wire and re-clamp it over your new wire along with the old. Then solder the exposed lead to the crimp part of the brass blade. Assuming you have a soldering iron of course. 25watt with rosin core solder for electronics assembly.

This way you don't disturb the original connection, you get positive attachment and continuity for your new wires, and the wires won't/can't pull out. Put it all back together and you have a switched and fused power harness for your gps or other electronic device without cutting any wires, no scotchlocks, no butt connectors, nada.

Chris,

What is the Lollygagger's routing from Maricopa?

Asphalt to Soda Lake Rd?
Are you turning on Pozo Rd from the 58?

Joel,

Belmont sounds familiar. Is that near the Hurricane / Elkhorn junction?

Are we waiting for all three groups at the various stops that are on the same routing?

I don't have the route slated to memory and my MapSource is on the computer at home...so I don't know. Joel????
I was curious myself, wrote him this morning. If I recall the route had us going over the mountains into Pozo, not Hwy 58.

For all I know it's the wrong route.

If you want to take a look pm me an email and I'll send you the files.

The Cafe link works fine on the Mac. It uses some type of Flash Player for a pic of the interior with the Menu clickable over it.

I tried to copy the menu, but no Bueno..

Cafe Emporium Menu

Their site is built on flash and if you don't have the right platform or pluggins it won't display.

Here's the whole menu captured off their site.

cafe menu.pdf

BTW, it's 4 pages so keep scrolling.
