Awesome day at Carizzo-Pozo

Back home...400 miles on the truck and probably 100-150 on the bike. Beautiful day driving back...jealous of the group that rode day 2.

Thanks Joel for organizing and everyone else for a good time.

Thanks Eric for riding over to Maricopa with me.

Thanks Chris for leading the slow group.

Thanks Bob for the colorful night-time tunes.

These are the kinds of trips that tell me never move back to Minnesota!!!

Made great time back to Irvine in just 3 hours and 5 minutes.

Thanks Joel for planning another great n00bs ride! Thanks Bob for hauling all our wood and drinks!

Didn't take that many pics this time but I mixed those in with some vids I took:

I rode up Friday w/Browneye. We went up PCH and checked out Sycamore campground, which was really nice. He ended up staying at some other campground south of Santa Barbara so he could be close to Ojai for the morning.

I went up to Pismo and had a so so dinner (hot dog) and really good beer at Pismo Brewing Company.

After that, I picked up some firewood, got gas, and headed up Hi Mountain Rd in the dark. All. By. Myself. That same dog that barked at us this morning coming down was out Fri night and he scared the crap out of me.

Riding up that road in the dark was scary too and I was glad I had my aux lights to light the way. I hit the campground only to find I was the only one there! Pitch black and very windy. So I started a campfire and set up my tent. It was truly adventure riding.

The next morning MNCherryinCA showed up in his truck with his bike in the back along with wood/drinks. We rode back to 58 then down through Carrizo on Soda Lake. REAL FAST! We hit 166 at 12:05 and since Joel said 1:00 in Maricopa, we decided to go up Elkhorn for 15 min then turn around to go back to Maricopa. But that's when we ran into the B group, which I followed and Bob went back to Maricopa with the street bike group.

We flew over Elkhorn FAST! Really nice going there with the bike bikes. BigTodd was hauling ass too, along with all his camping gear and panniers. I left mine back at camp.

Got to Pozo and had some beer/grub then back to camp. Headed out this morning and got held up by a heard of cows. Cathy, did you make it down that road okay? It was a bit tricky, but really the same as the one down to Pozo before it evened out to a nice dirt road.

Back home at 1:15. Tired! Can't wait for the next ride though.

Yes Eric, thanks..... It was a bit sketchy the first mile or 2, I especially didn't care for the downhill stuff, bur overall I think a bit easier than the road in to camp.... was really beautiful up there

Of course I had to fall over on my way out of camp first

Joel's Ride Event Was A Huge Success!

Just got home, great ride, super peeps to visit and ride with. Four of us went over some ridge for miles and miles over Santa Barbara today. I'll let the rest fill in on that. It was like, what the hell is that street bike doing up here??

Thanks everyone for one of the best adventure rides yet. More pics and RR to come...

Need a shower after 3 days, I'm beat.

Joel, I'd say it was a success. Nice job.

Someday, I'm not going to leave the Pozo Saloon. Love it!
