WOW! That sounds like fun. Got details? Skill level (1-10), distance, pace, route. I'd love to go but wouldn't want to be a back marker.

I see you got the HP2 avatar going now. Does this mean you're going to sell it to me?

hahaha....eric, it will be like riding a 650 for you. i will trade it with a stock R80 GS though.

yeah, i lowered the rear with shorter shock, and the front, have to get a 19 from woody's to even it out.....so i can touch the ground.....

you guys have fun in baja; say hi to paul.

it will be interesting to see how far the gsa could go with the stock but huge gas tank. bring octane booster.

Mojave Road Turn-Around

+1 for mojave road. Just not this weekend. Either coming down with or getting over a chest cold.

Transmitted my tax return last night though so that was a big plus.

Was wondering if the warped guys were huddling in their tents in the snow and rain.

Bodfish weather forecast from national weather service:
Tonight: Considerable cloudiness with occasional rain showers. Thunder possible. Low 37F. Winds WNW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 70%.

I guess I'm a wimp...I would'a bailed. The 37deg and 20mph winds would have been enough, then throw on 70% chance of rain. Brrrrrr!!!

The warped guys (& gals) are indeed getting rained on, haven't seen the snow yet, but there may indeed be snow up higher

snow at about 6,000 feet. Cold and rainy all day today, about 45 degrees in town.

As for Baja, all the other thumpers want to use me as a fuel tanker. I have a siphon hose so I'm sure they'll all be at the fuel teat at some point.

I checked Gspot for intel on the gas and am told 87 works fine. Some say don't do it long term, others say they've run nothing but 87 forever and not had a problem. It does have an anti-knock sensor in it. It will be fine. I could bring two 160z bottles of octane boost if I really want to but it's not a priority.

Big Bear has already received upwards of half a foot of snow today, and it is still snowing heavily.

In Baja, gas stations sometimes only have "corriente" (regular), and are out of the other octanes. I usually pass when that is the case. With the big tank, it shouldn't be an issue for you.

I left LA to go to Indiana to care for my dad. He died (we knew it was coming), and now I'm here taking care of my mom. She's healthy, but can't be alone.

I just want to say that I only rode with you guys a few times many years ago, but I never met a nicer bunch. I hope to show up again, someday. Look for the black XR650R.
