Hey Ersin, those pics are last year in Sequoia, but that's what it was like all around Kernville THIS weekend! Cannell trail had over 12 inches at 6000' on Friday afternoon!

Warped pics are uploading....

Headed to Anza Borrego with Ersin yesterday. Weather was supposed to be great. Weatherman says clouds should push out of here by late morning then partly cloudy skies. AB should be real nice, highs in the mid 80s. wow! Lets go!

Clear skies through the OC...405 slab:

On hwy76 some heavy cleads off in the distance. Temp is dropping fast...

Pit stop to layer up:

Up the Harrison Grade. Mmmmm Lemons!

The road was fantastic. Beautiful views of Pauma Valley below:

Eventually it began to hail small pin head sized bits and some snow began to appear:

The hail changed to small snowflakes and it began to get more slick:

Made it to the top 5186' and 26*

Video:

We made it to the bottom of the hill and the Lake Henshaw overlook:

Made it to the Lake Henshaw Restaurant...Nothing like an ice cold Sammy after an icy cold day

Buzzing along to Butterfield Ranch along the old de Anza Trail:

Checking in...just the essentials!

These nice folks across the way in the RV section invited us to join them for dinner. It's their buddy's 50th and they're out riding over the weekend. Steaks, fish, chicken, with all the fixins + bday cake & ice cream. The birthday boy got a special gift. I didn't have my camera with me but Ersin caught one with his iphone.

On our way back...92* in direct sunlight!

Just yesterday this was all white:

Til next time!

Our original plan was riding to Big Bear and camp overnight. But we heard that it was cold and decided to go south, Anza Borrego, hoping it would be warmer there.
We decided to leave town by 9am, then changed it to 10. But Rich had other plans as usual and we ended up rolling by 12:00 noon.

Weather was beautiful on 5 South by the coast.

We are heading towards that dark mountain, Mordor.

Orange garden on the background. Smells amazing.

Rich has no idea what is coming.

We had really good traction thanks to the rain. But our route looks uglier and uglier.

We left the sunny weather behind us as we start climbing.

And this is what we found up there

And it only got worse

My baby was too heavy and this is what happened (1 of 3)

Rich tried to melt the snow but didnt help much.

Postcard

Rich is checking out what is to come

It was snowing too

We finally make it to the top, and it turns out that we took the only way up that is not plowed.

Over 5,200 ft

We are finally riding down

This should be a X-mas card.

We rode from this

To this in one hour

Vista Point

Finally it cleared up

Camp.
My new tent.

And my one and only bike

As Rich mentioned, we met this very friendly group, invited us for dinner. They were celebrating Bob's 50th birthday. They had a great menu for dinner, steak, fish, potato w/ cheese, asparagus, salad, birthday cake, ice cream, open bar, etc... We were ready for our caned food and this invitation was a feast.
Here is Bob's first birthday gift

KTM, chicks dig it...

Breakfast time

Orange is basic

Our beautiful camp spot

Can you tell??? Rich, your hand is smoking...

Sunday we tracked back our Saturday route. Weather was much better, warmer. But there was still a lot of snow over 4,000 ft.

And back to orange garden. Rich sums up our weekend trip with a thumbs up...

As usual, rest of the pictures are on my Smugmug.
Great weekend getaway. We should make this an annual ride.
