Sloppy but fun.

The tracks worked out great. Saturday's weather could have been better but what the heck, that is what adventure is all about

Supposed to be in the 90's this weekend. I would like to go back during cooler temps for a few days. Get well soon, bud!

I thought I saw you guys riding out. You passed me on the 91 just before the 15, You two went south I went north. I was trailering my bike out and a little jealous. I met some friends out in Hesperia and one them decided to be dumb/awesome. See video

Yup, a Forester, and a DRZ with a natural tank.

Go ahead and post it... it's a good laugh. Might have the footage from the other side soon too, you can see him flying through the air a lot better.

How do you deal with the "dead battery syndrome" master???
Oh wait, you carry two cameras, right? And how many spare batteries again???

.............do we have to do this again?.......

ok!

2 cameras w/ fully charged spares

2 - 8gb sd card

learn how to ride with one hand on the camera and the other on the throttle. yetigs gave me the title of taking the most pics with one hand on the bike......

in cold weather, put the camera inside the jacket and keep it warm. the battery will fall asleep if you leave it outside.

so far, i have great confidence on pentax optio wg cameras (same cameras as yours and rich)....they take decent pics and built tough to withstand the environment we are accustomed to. mine lasted much longer than the 3 canons i had, and still going.

Point and Shoot

These new cameras have swoopy little postage-stamp size batts. Try aftermarket for them. Sony wanted $55 for a replacement battery for my new camera, got them online for $4.75 each and they work perfectly. YMMV. Yes, that's right, less than 10% of the cost of an OEM. Sony says about 200 pics on a batt, so let's see, that's about 600 pics before I need to find a charger. And Joel's right, about 1 in 10 is worth keeping. In the olden days we did 'contact proofs', just 35mm negative size proofs on contact paper. Then blew up the ones we wanted with the enlarger.

The pentax is a great little 'rugged'. Everybody's got one now and they're all pretty good, but panasonic lumix TS series offers a LOT of bang for buck. I love my sony for pic quality and their 'sweep panorama' feature, but it's not a rugged. If it dies I'm going pentax or panasonic. My favorite idea is the zinger tether and have it hanging off your jacket - I haven't mastered that yet.
