I see you got nice gold ones. You must have better insurance than me.

The doctor felt that removing these two screws which fix the rod in place was holding the tibia fracture back from healing properly. There is a slot in the top of the rod as well so the screw now is in the slot instead, which allows for very slight vertical movement which the doctor thinks will help the bone to heal. Removing hardware is not that uncommon but it is intended to be permanent. I still have three screws and a rod in there, so I think that still counts as being a cyborg.

Thanks for the well-wishes, everyone.
I've heard that some people do have an aversion to leaving the metal in. I didn't know about the tibia. I had a double spiral fracture of the tibial plateau a few years back and had two screws put in, but forgot all about them until now.

Luckily I've had no issues with my ankle break and wrist break with a 60% graft of the ulnar. My ankle is till a little soar at night and when it's cold, but oh we'll.

Good luck on the healing.

still have 3 screws in my cuboid after fracturing it in multiple places. doc said to leave em in unless i felt them later. 5 years later, so far so good.
my metatarsals, couldn't do anything for those. just let them heal the way they are.

atpalmer and jonf, heal up quickly and let's ride!!!

Mojave Road - April 28-29, 2012

Ersin and I will be riding this historically famous trail for the first time. A few riders have expressed interest in the recent past (browneye, jnyrav) and others are welcomed to join us. Staying the night in Barstow (Quality Inn & California Inn across the street) and leaving at 8am Saturday morning. Arriving at Fort Mojave in the afternoon and staying the night at the Motel 6 in Needles. Riding the same route back home Sunday.

Must be comfortable with several miles of whoops and more in deep sand.

Bike must be mechanically sound; bring your tools and tubes.

This isn't a race to the river type of ride. It's a cruise, smell the flowers, and take pictures kind. I have the new Mojave Road Guide and would like to stop and take pics of the highlights mentioned in it.

The guide book says it's approx 125 miles each way with fuel in Barstow and the casino so carry extra fuel if you have one of those puny tanks.

Sounds like a blast Rich.
Gotta check the calendar. We were supposed to be in Reno for my sons jazz tour with HS. Will talk to the warden.
