I've been wrenching on the DR...put on a new rear tire and noticed the wheel is cracked about a half inch. Thank goodness I have a spare set. Anyone know if my steel wheel can be welded? If yes, any shop recommendations?

I have an oil change left and I will be ready!

Try Tom; He will tell you yes or no (with no BS in the middle) if it's a good idea or not. Darn good welder, bike friendly and also straightens cast aluminum cycle rims.

Thanks DR, I'll keep your offer in mind. I'll give Tom at Mackie Welding a call and see what he suggests, and then make my move.

Rob
Start of the trail (@ Afton Cyn campground) to the official end (river's edge @ the Avi Hotel/Casino) is 124 miles. From Barstow to the trail head is another 41 miles.

At approximately mile 50-ish or so there is a section of the trail that meets up with Kelbaker Rd. From there it is 13 miles to Baker (one-way) for gas.

Amazon has these for $34.49 with FREE 2-day shipping if you have Amazon Prime. Next day for only a few bucks. Kolpin Jr. (1.5gal)

What's up Sean, are you working your magic with the wifey? Try calling the California Inn and/or the Quality Inn (across the street).

Just ride conservatively and you'll be fine.
