Geez, never imagined it would be so hard to give CASH money to someone who is advertising a bike for sale. I have 3 bikes I'm looking at on Craigslist and can't get a return phone call, text or email. I guess I should be expecing some kind of phone/computer hack cause these bikes must be phish bait.

Anybody have a plated dirt bike sitting in the garage as an extra bike, no time to ride, collecting dust?
Todd, you could try out my SXC for a while next time we get out. Might not be before the July trip with Joel. I think being another big guy with some actual skill, you might like a 625/640 or a 650. I think I should be able to handle my 625 a lot better than I do...just need more practice.

Then again...you have the itch and it's only mid June...so you'll probably scratch before mid july...

Thank you John, I may take you up on that. If I don't buy a GS first.

Chris...

I just got back from a week riding big bikes in Europe...Played with the Triumph 1200 Explorer...the Multistrada and the GS..

The Strada is a beast and sexy and fast...but it is a streetbike...period....a wonderful one....

The GS is what it is...I rode 1000 miles of the Pyrenees on a standard GS and the bike was stable, predictable and comfortable...the new Dakar edition has everything one needs without the weight of the Adventure...

http://www.google.com/imgres?q=dakar...9,r:8,s:0,i:97

but for my money...the new Triumph gets the nod....everything good from the GS with gobs more power...

I was approved and ready to pull the trigger on a Tiger 800 roadie to replace my Versys. Out of all the bikes I've been pouring over it clicks the most boxes for me. The price is right, it's the right size, and would be a great road bike for me and for when the wife comes along.

Sat on the new 1200 Explorer and it is really nice as well. But it's the same weight and cost as the Super Tenere.

I really think the mid-sized bike fits me better - old man 170lb weakling.

But I'm having buyers remorse before I even buy it, so I guess I'm waiting a few days to see how I feel about it.

I'm not really looking for something more offroading, I have the husky for that. I just don't want to be sorry I didn't get the XC or a 990 or something that is more offroad oriented. The GS and Tenere are too big and heavy, and too much money. The 990 and 'Strada are too finicky and maintenance fussy.

I had picked out the Venom Yellow one. These bikes get absolutely rave reviews. They do not have demo models, but could probably convince them to let me take one around the block.

EDIT: BTW, Irv Seaver has one of those dakar-model GS's on the floor - $20G's. Ouch. The Tiger is $12G out the door with everything.

Yikes, that venom yellow almost looks as fast as red

I finally got off the fence regarding buying a small(er) dirt bike. Thanks to all that have offered to let me try out their bikes.

Mind is made up though ...decided to work on the Chevelle as it's been sitting in the garage neglected for too long. This week the beast had the rear end rebuilt and new set of gears, engine bay cleaned up and dyno'd. Some misc parts over the next few weeks and off to the paint shop. The value seems to hold better on the car than on another bike. Plus I know I would just hurt myself trying to do stupid stuff on the smaller bike. The big GS at least keeps me from riding like a maniac (nothing against those who do though).

Here's the before shot, hoping by early Sept to post the after shot. Joel, sorry for posting a car on your thread!

I could always put a hitch on the back and tow a motorclyce trailer.
