We have a cabin in Camp Nelson for Friday night, Mountain Home State Forest Saturday to see Hidden Falls, maybe throw a line in for some trout, and return Sunday. Big bike ride, 30-40% dirt, about 500-600 miles round trip.
There are currently five/six riders signed on, PM if you want to join us.

Would have enjoyed having you join us Joel. Maybe we can do a co-organized one again in spring.
But yeah, ducked out of another ride and kind of pushed this one thru or it just wasn't gonna happen. Once it snows I'm out. DV here we come!

Based on feedback, reports, and research for Sequoia National Forest (now 'Monument') there seems to be a LOT of dirt exploring with great camping up there. Gee, why did I wait so long to get a plated bike????

sean, if you have 1 week, bring the wr450, dr and quad. there are also places you can go with the pickup truck.

moab has all kinds of dirt, rock, and scenic landscapes. i have to go back and do it on a more slower pace....hahaha i know, not much slower left for me to go slow......

the round trip drive is a biatch, almost 1500 miles or 14 hours each way for me with very little stop. not worth it if doing just a couple of days.

I'm sorry, I disagree.

I've ridden to Moab several times from Riverside, and the ride out there is damn near half the fun!
You just have to do a little research on routing (and do it at the right time of year for good weather) but it's a blast.
I've ridden there via Canyon de Chelly, via Four Corners, Valley of the Gods, via Flagstaff, via the Burr Trail, Zion NP and hwy 12, every time an adventure.

Get there, set up base camp and then ride all the "day trip" loops.

Plus, living on a the bike for a week sure is a lot of fun.

PS I have ridden home from there (Moab to Riverside) in one shot, also rode to Flagstaff and trucked it home in one day, ~700 miles ain't that far...

Great day out in Mojave with the big bikes... Got home knackered, but it was a great ride out from LA to Kramer Junction to the Husky Monument and over to Randsburg.

BigTodd and Catalina38...

Hilltop just northeast of Kramer Junction.

Me and Bill...

Bill and his 650, and prototype rekluse...

Big Todd wrastling the 1200GeeSus through a washout...

I was poised with camera ready for some carnage...

But BigTodd tractored it through...

Made it...

Obligatory proof shot...

I did not know what to expect in person, but the site was much more profound than I expected.

Great ride, great folks. Hell of a Sunday.

wow.

that's hardcore.

we could have turned the whole trip into an adventure,. just didn't have enough time. there are good routes all the way from hesperia to moab; half of them may be too challenging for us and at the pace i can go, we will need 4 more days which we didn't have. yeah, we were drooling on salina frontage road (parallel with the 70) on our way home.

still a biatch if we stayed there only for 2 days. this trip, we lost 1 day due to the rain storm. in moab alone, 5 days of riding should fill our cups; ended up doing 4. man, i'm still sore from 500 miles on my bike. this old body is falling apart....

You can still have fun in Moab in the rain:
