Cool2

Chilly morning and when i showed up these guys were already there, but they where not aware of the wind chill yet

no picks of much of the ride from me and squeezin in a beverage or two proved most difficult with these LC 8 wielding riders...untill we hit the "big"sand washspeedy completion created my time

my final beverage/smoke break heading home over HWY 2,nice views and still a sliver of sunshine before i drop down into Ruggers territory

great day !12 hours door to door 310 Mi,great group no drama and ZERO flats

Talk about small freaking world ... I go for a surf this morning and the guy in the parking lot next to me is the guy who stopped in his truck after we left Husky and asked if we needed any gas. He and his son were out riding the same tracks as us, was at the White House having lunch when we were there and now he and his kid paddling out foir a surf ... NICE!

So the LC8 convention was in full swing when our crew showed up at Mike's, I parked my big BMW big behind a couple trucks to be courteous. Where have all the beemer riders gone BTW?

I left the camera tucked away all day but snapped off a couple; here is our rag tag group of KTMs, Yamahas, a Suzuki and aforementioned BMW starting the morning.

always amazing what you find out there ...

From this point, I led our trek along the fence line of the tortise sanctuary and straight into a small sand dune and deeep sand wash. Then into another sand wash that fed right into a steep rutted and rocky hill climb. After that I am pretty sure our group was done with me leading the ride.

I rode the EXC all the way... Handwarmers needed, but not available.. My electric vest used to work on the bike, but this time it was killing the battery.. ?

Glad I made the ride, great group of peeps !

Now, I have to do the stator upgrade.

The gang met up at 630am in Sunland, which consisted of Joel, Jim, Jon, Todd, Rich, Ersin, Diego, and myself. It was pretty chilly, and we made our way up Big T to Angeles Forest Highway, where it was even COLDER!

The parking lot bled orange so early in the morning!

We first headed north along the California Aquaduct. A few of the WRR's here, Jon and Jim.

Joel doing his thing.

Jon at a mini wash crossing.

Jim and his next restoration project.

A large portion of our route was redirected due to a large tortoise home.

While we were discussing route options, Diego walks away from Jim's bike which started it's first of may self induced naps.

A little bit of sand never hurt Ersin.

Joel is predicting victory...

Until his bike decided otherwise.

Diego considers some Dakar-esque speeds to clear the drop.

Now just slightly cool, an absolutely stunning day.

Next we took turns making our way up the steep road on our reroute around the tortoises. Joel in action.

Next, Jon.

Rich was thinking it would be good to have a few more knobs on that back tire.

Bill stretching the legs on his new WRR.

We managed to ride the east perimeter fence line of the Honda Proving Grounds. It was up for sale earlier this year so I'm not sure if it's still owned by Honda or not.

After a well earned lunch in Randsburg, we decided to head to Husky from the northwest. Some nice roads heading SE towards Husky.

And finally we made it!

From here, we rode back out to 395 and half split down the slab towards OC, while the rest us continued towards 20 Mule Team Parkway. Jon, Joel, Bill, Jim, and I got back to Mojave at dusk. After Bill split in his truck, we warmed up with some soup from Subway and the 4 of us slabbed it back in the dark.

GPS tracks for the day. 337 miles in 13.5 hours...a very good ride!
