Sat's Plan to PTown

What happen to Tom?

Here is my plan (did this route a few months back)
Start at from the bottom of Hwy38 work my way up to (1N12) Moon ridge trail into Big Bear.
This is a fun route not a boring flat fire road. It’s a long hill climb all the way into BB. From BB
I take the normal route into Pioneer Town. Depending on what time we start and get to PT Town
Will determine what route we take back. There are lots of bail outs if people need to break off.
Can be done on a Big Bike and still fun on small bike. Street tires only for above average riders.

I said I was interested, I didn't say if it was actually possible

For Sito and anyone else not caught up yet, I wrecked a few miles out of Darwin while doing the Cerro Gordon loop. As soon as I hit the ground I knew I had broken bones in my leg. I have this wacky superstition about riding sweep because I was convinced I always got hurt when doing so. Guess where I was on Friday!

Big, big thanks to everyone who stuck by me while we figured out a game plan, and not allowing me to use Plan B. riding back to Panamint would have sucked.

The final count is 3 broken toes, 4 broken/ dislocated metatarsals, and what is called a " tibeal plateau fracture" that will need to be reassembled with hardware. I'm stuck in mission hospital in south OC til at least next Friday, so if anyone is close by and has time to burn, please stop by. I don't need to tell anyone how depressing hospitals are --- I could really use the company! I'll see you guys out on the trails in a couple of months.

Sito, I would be intererested, but my bike still has the DV electrical jinx. Hope to get that squared away this weekend.

Tom, heal fast, too far away for a visit.

update on Tom(El Zorrillo)

(posted on Noobs DV ride, so here it is with pic)

Just when you thought sweeping was safe...

Tom (El Zorrillo) went down hard Friday riding sweep on our way to the Salt Trams...
just outside of Darwin we waited on the trail ...no Tom, not a good sign, especially since he's one the faster rider's @, ...so Pat(pjh66) went looking, and then me, ... found him 3-4 miles back on the trail in bad shape, a dazed dirt bag, his goggles and visor smashed , seat laying in the trail and Tom in pain, barely standing on one leg, holding his bike, wanting me to help him put his seat on, turn the bike around, help him on it so he can ride out ...uhhh that wasn't happening...
Jon(Riddler990) hauled ass and got his truck...while Lior, Peter(the Grinch).. Jimmy"MC"(1224R) and Pat .. counseled, comforted and shaded,?? ..the down rider.

Once at PSR we packed Tom up and in Pat's truck... Pat drove him to the hospital near San Clemente

Tom's been in and out of surgery, with more to come next week..

minus the complications and other details...

- broken Tibia just below the knee ,
-4 or 5 broken bones in foot ,
-possible torn ligaments around the knee

We wish Tom a speedy recovery, simply because... 1) he's the last person that deserved this... 2) he's a lot of fun to ride with

I am going to swing by when Tom first gets home. I'll make sure that he is set up well. I suspect that his freezer will be full by time I leave.

Get well Tom!
