todd, the 1190 is a smoooooooooooth machine in comparison with my 950.

of course we only rode it on pavement, can't comment on the performance on dirt. one of the better riders in our saturday group got to trade his 990 with paul krause's 1190. did a lot of dirt and rocks, and at the end of the ride, he wants one.

this weekend was the first time the general public able to ride this new model year (for north america). we were lucky to ride them and after you test rode one, you get addicted and want to ride it more.

if i have $ laying under the sofa, i would put a deposit tomorrow morning.

Hold on a minute, 30 + years of proven performance and reliability stands for itself with the GSA. A lot of the Starbucks guys I meet have well over 500 miles on bikes they've had for several years ... without any issues.

Maybe by next April/May there will be someone who bought a new one and finds it too tall of a bike and will want me to buy it from them cheap.

Find me a KTM that has gone over 100,000 miles that has only needed maintenance parts and I might believe you.

I rode a supposedly hopped up 990 the other week. Very underwhelming*.

*note: probably shouldn't ride a Ducati immediately prior to riding a KTM and expect to be impressed with the power and handling.

Joel - looks like you had a good time. Is the 1190 easier to pick up than a 950?

500 miles? That's not even broke in yet.

It saves money on oil changes. 500 miles every 5 years on a 6000 mile service interval = 60 years between oil changes!

That is totally in line with the fact that "The cheapest thing on a BMW is the guy riding it."
