Hey there Joel, been a long time since I've ridden with you (2011 Death Valley??); maybe I can catch you on one of those rides! If I can find the time lol. I assume you'll post it on this thread if you do a group ride? I never get weekends off and have been extremely busy in general lately but I'd definitely like to do another Big Bear ride again sometime soon. This looks like an awesome thread by the way. I wasn't aware of it until a few days ago. I'm definitely planning on checking back regularly.

Nice job Noel on the tag recovery and new tag!

Now someone bring it North back to its roots in Sequoia.

not a lot going on, but we should get together again.

the desert is warming up, so big bear sounds good.

i would like to get one more ride, maybe to smell flowers at the poppy preserve (palmdale)

let's hook up for a ride in april. i heard the SCD will be opening next month. as usual like the l.a. weekend ride, lunch at newcombs.

latest "unofficial word", i talked to a forest service official today and he's not aware of this, but that doesn't mean anything. all he can say is wait till next month or june for the official forest service memo.

sorry for getting ourselves excited.

btw, the forest service's top priority this year is fighting fire. out of the $24M budget for the Angeles Forest district, $17M is for fire prevention and related expenses.

I drove the adventure truck from the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve to Santa Clarita past Lake Elizabeth, San Francisquito, and Boquet Canyon Road and saw a lot of open gates. What's a good source of maps for those dirt roads?

Next time bring a cooler with you and take one of the roads. Just make sure you are full of gas. How lost can you get? Getting lost is half the fun. Bring a GPS so you can follow the bread crumbs out if you are way lost!

I had Wilbur with me and we were just out for a day ride so I didn't plan ahead. On the bike, it would be easy to turn around if the shit got deep but I'm a 4x4 noobie.

Riding the area as well, but ending up at Willow Springs for vintage racing.

I'll honk as I ride by. LOL
