What time at 7-11. Are powerline and aquaduct dirt?

lol, we have been waiting for 5 years or so for the FS to open the dirt roads in anf.....join the wait...

on today's ride, lots of these:

top of lynx

pacifico

indian canyon

anyway, still glad to get on the black top and stretch the legs of the beast...

the views are good and the twisty canyons are fun

brunch at newcomb's is always a treat

no jay leno today but lots of cool bikes.....

think i'm in love again

another one...

i met rruugger this morning and he's ready and loaded for warped....

i missed the local forest roads and was convinced they will be opened this month, but heard otherwise. can't believe it and for me to get convinced, i went and attended a meeting with the FS so i could personally hear it.

yeah, pretty much lost hope to see them get opened again. it was our backyard. met a lot of nice people on the l.a. weekend rides.

there's still plenty of dirt riding areas around within an hour ride, consider ourselves still fortunate.

big bear is one of my favorites. plenty of dirt roads for big or small bikes. there are trails that will challenge the hardcore riders. i'm happy just to see an open fire roads. BB is perfect when the warmer weather hits the lowlands.

tune in here for a future date.

30% of our route is dirt.

powerline road is a lot of fun avoiding sofas, mattresses, tires, etc.....

that puts adventure in riding....

aquaduct is dirt too, not as much challenging as the powerline rd.

thinking of 8 am. PM me if coming so no surprises.

Forest Roads in the ANF

Today I rode my mountain bike up Monrovia Canyon to Rincon, then left / west to Newcombs pass, flipped it and returned the same way. Rincon is super graded now, with the Edison projects going on up there.

So...the NFS doesn't have a problem opening up Rincon to heavy trucks, bulldozers, and graders, but not to private citizens in/on plated vehicles. As a cyclist, it was pretty cool to ride for 3+hrs, 38 miles and not see a single soul once I got above a couple hiking trails in Monrovia Canyon.

As a motorcyclist, fookin' blows that I can't do Rincon 2-up for lunch at Newcombs.

That said, I did a great ride yesterday on the 990 on the roads up around Arrowhead. Lots of open gates and good big bike conditions.
