Alright, here is my RR from this past weekend. Joel was leading a group up for an overnight camping ride to WARPED, but a few of us tagged along just for the day ride. We kept together as one large group for most of the day, which worked out pretty well until we had a flat in the day tripper group. At this point, despite being close to the group goal of the poppy’s, we split up primarily because Joel and his group still had a long ride ahead and we did not want to hold them up.

We all met at the 7-11, 11 of us in total (including Duy’s new truck).

Little T was first on the list, a fun road as always. Here we have Ersin out front, followed by Joel, Earl, and Sito.

Self shot with Rich, outlaws, and others in tow.

The group rolling up to the Rowher Flats staging area. Chris on his new H2O head, Duy, Joel, and the rest.

Joel, Ersin, a sliver of Rich, rrugger, and I think Sito in back.

Joel leads us north out of the staging area.

Ersin and Rich.

Sito and his new ride.

Chris, outlaws, and Duy, as tiny specs.

Regrouping at the water tanks.

New and newish (jlemond) 690’s!

Earl.

At the easy/medium option, jlemond, rrugger, and outlaws.

Sito.

My lovely new 690. After getting more bar rise and huge/wide/slightly lower rally pegs, the big is transformed and much easier to ride now. Standing up and steering with the feet is now mucho easy, a HUGE difference. Do not underestimate the ability of taller bars and wide pegs for increasing control.

Rich.

Chris and Joel.

Joel and Duy

Chris, Joel, and Duy.

Chris and his shiny new machine.

The PP himself, Joel.

Cockpit view, while waiting to snap some shots.

Outlaws.

Earl.

Chris.

Duy.

Duy and Chris.

Another re-group.

Don’t tell Jimmy! :)

Rrugger.

Rich.

Joel and Ersin.

A few miles before the Rock Inn, outlaws got a nail in his rear tire. We split from the campers and rode very sloooowly over to the Rock Inn to eat lunch and change the tire there. Here is outlaws hard at work.

The spare tube leaked, so we patched the original tube. We went to use the compressor across the street to get the rest of the pressure pumped up but it was broken, so a can of fixaflat seemed like the next best thing.

Off to the Poppy’s! Here is a cool view as we came down into Antelope Valley.

We got to the poppy’s but they were not as vibrant as we expected. Turns out they had closed up some, due to the rain and clouds. Joel’s photos from the next day show a huge improvement in the bloom.

A great ride, this truly is a fun loop that is in the backyard of us LA people.

I left home at 6:30 to be on time. My plan was to meet m1jeep on 5 & 710 around 7:00am. I called him to see where he is and he said "I am running a little behind, I'll catch with you up on 5." He was still home.
.

Finally we were all there. Some familiar faces and some new. I remember meeting tons of people that exact meeting location (7-Eleven on Osborne) 3 years ago.

Formal greetings.

Time to roll.

I love Little Tujunga Canyon Rd.

Joel must like those bright LEDs.

Regrouping before 14. Isaac is really happy to be out riding his 690.

Sito and his new 1190R at Rowher Flats staging area.

Joel giving the salute (secretly)

JLemond with Cobrastyle bg.

Rich's new helmet is the best money spend on riding gear for him. Now he doesn't have to take out his helmet 20 times a day. Duy in the background shows how happy he is to be there.

What a beautiful day to ride (at least for now).

John & Sito.

Joel is checking to see where he can stop and luckily finds the best spot in the picture.

Waiting for the rest of the group.

Finally Joel stops in the worst possible spot around and guess what???

Joel enjoying this beautiful day.

And Sito as well.

Now some high speed power line road, with lots of wind.

Then it got colder and colder as we climb to higher elevation. Down to 35 deg.

Cold but that snow on the mountains makes good scenery.

After a long cold stretch, we were cold and hungry. Stopped by a nice rib restaurant for lunch.

Rest of the trip was just beautiful. Narrow and winding scenic roads, green and blue together. Just amazing.

John.

Finally Isabella Lake.

We were lucky. Unlike last night, no rain on Saturday.

Warm welcome by some other AdvRiders.

And the last picture of Saturday. My lovely 990.

Like I said earlier, I do not have a lot of pictures from Sunday (back to home day) because my camera died and i took these pics with my iPhone.

Sito kindly invited us for breakfast at his motel on Sunday morning to discuss our return route. It was a god breakfast with better views.

Matt (Rider914) joined us for the return trip to lead us. Matt knows almost all trails in SoCal like the back of his hand. First we try to take Sawmil to Racheria and go north but there was still snow on the top and decided to go back and take Jawbone to 14.
I saw these beautiful clouds flowing down really fast from top of this mountain like pouring milk into a cup. I should have taken a video.

Sito and Rich

Matt, John and Sito on big KTMs

Matt

Sito

Rich

And finally the whole gang but me.

Once we hit 14, I left with Matt to take California City to Cajon Pass, mostly high speed dirt. We were flying over some wide graded roads. Mostly 80-85mph until we hit Cajon area.
I was home by 5:00pm after a long waited weekend.
Thank you everyone to put his event together. I finally see Perry again after probably 2 years, first time since he saved my flooding bike.
Next time I am hoping to arrive early and do some real riding.
And thanks to all my riding buddies. And as always, originals of these pictures and more are on my Smugmug.

You may have already seen a few of their pics from that ride. Well, now yer gonna see some more.

Leaving K-ville behind

Conga line going up Sawmill.

Selfie

Going back down Sawmill ('cause there still looked to be snow up on Rancheria).

Starting up Kelso Valley Road.

FYYFF, Rruugger, NSFW, Sito, and M1Jeep.

Kelso Valley.

Chasing FYYFF towards Jawbone ...

... and then chasing NSFW for a bit (Joel has really picked up the pace in the last few years )

Parting of the ways

Boring road to Cal City

Back road to Boron

Looks like I am being followed

This was actually my first time using the Sena to talk to a buddy while riding. Very cool and useful

We stopped in Boron for lunch at Domingo's then fueled up at Kramer Jct for the last push home.

Followed some fast powerlines instead of Hwy395.

The 9X0s make quick work of this stuff

Wind was getting obnoxious as we raced towards the Cajon Pass.
Pretty much stopped taking pics since I was nearly home anyhow.

Thanks for tagging along ersin

See ya next year
