Hi, my name is Ken and I'm an addict... Oh, sorry, wrong forum.

I just moved to Oxnard from an asylum in San Diego area. My wife "TheQuietOne" isn't able to ride (afflicted with 'baby in belly' syndrome) presently, so I've been exercising her NC700X, but Chupacabra's knobby tires are crying out for a break from the pavement. Too bad Chupa's rear suspension needs replaced, so she's sidelined for the moment anyway.

Not to be deterred from riding, I am picking up my Super Tenere ES from Thousand Oaks Powersports when it arrives (later this week or early next week) and soon as I can figure out how to get there and get the bike home without cloning myself. If anyone is interested in making a riding buddy and getting some gas money by helping me get the new beast home, hit me up.

I am looking for people to ride with and places to do said riding, whether solo or with a buddy. I'm apparently search challenged because every time I try to use the search function on this site I get a 404 error. Master Google says I have to ride to Los Padres National Forest or farther in other directions to find anything, and I have no idea what kind of tech level any of it is. I'm experienced on quads, less so on dirt bikes, and have ridden a lot of different terrains with different 2 wheeled machines but I would like to stay at intermediate or below for skill level required to ride a given trail for now. I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this, correct me as necessary please.

TLDR

The important takeaway here is that I am looking for places to ride near Oxnard, and people to ride with.
The funny takeaway is that rather than replace the NC's rear suspension to ride it more, I'm buying a new scoot. Because I'm an addict. And because my V Star just doesn't seem like a good trail riding bike. And because TheQuietOne will want her trusty steed back, preferably without any damage from me.

hope quiet one is feeling better.

Not sure what you mean by "before it gets some character" but I added the Rumbux crash bars as soon as I got it home for the first time, with about 20 miles on the bike, and Rox risers too so it's already slightly farkled. Pic attached. J is doing well, but bed rest sucks.

As for your flyer, about a hundred miles on the map, looks like it might be interesting to go to... If anyone is near me and going, if you know exactly where it is maybe I can ride with you? Otherwise I guess I'll just search until I find. Guess I'll be emailing for info.

Oh, well in that case I plan on having heaps upon mounds of character. That just reminded me, first dirt bike I ever got on was in... oh '99 or so, and as I recall it was a YZ four stroke bigger than a 125 but I don't remember the displacement. At any rate, I was used to quads and said "I got this". I jumped on, dumped the clutch and very quickly the bike introduced my back to the dirt and my chest to the handlebars.

Immediate new-found respect for dirtbikes? Check.

I imagine the Tenner will have a little more trouble doing that to me, but I'm smart enough to start easy - not that it will prevent me from dropping later, but hopefully it at least cuts my "down time" a little.

san gabriel super sweep

some pics on the way up

san gabriel dam

there were various volunteer groups, this one is the california conservation corp

hey, those 2 are adv riders....

the clean up was organized by california trail trail users coalition

disabled but not really

i think over 200 bags of trash were collected

nice find....

bill (conteacher) skipped lunch, isaac and i ate his portion. free lunch btw

i always wanted a pic with smokey.....

lunch was followed by a raffle....

after the event, i rode up to the top (i mean end of hw39), fun twisties

it was a nice ride, the road was well maintained......but it ends here. this road connects to hw2 (angeles crest) but been closed for many years due to landslide and lack of funding.

nice weather and good riding. thanks to the organizers and volunteers. always a great cause and good excuse for me to fix the 640 (broken subframe) and get it done on time. without an event to go to, i don't get motivated to rush fixing the bike.

now, bike is ready for san simeon....

Sorry I missed out Joel, I had a little Stanley Cup Rally I was busy prepping for. We played hockey into June, the ice is gone and we came out on top. Now lets see a back to back next year.

Keep us updated on the next clean up.
