I might be up for a ride tomorrow depending on how all this plays out.

Good point. Angeles Crest will most likely be very crowded with the closures.

I will check back in here later to see if tomorrow is a possibility instead.

not a bad idea bailing out on today's ride...the fire, traffic, detour, and so many other things to worry about.

i hope brian aka longerday your house and properties are safe from the fire.

think of riding next weekend.....gorman may not be the place if you have a big bike, but you could do the ride through tule and sawmill to old ridge road on your way to see us in gorman for the barbie Q.

I too was dumb enough to do some exploring off AFH. Yes the traffic was bad and I got bounced around by the wind, but it was cooler "up there". I went looking for a BPL road on the other side of Aliso. Think I found part of it (4N32) but gave up because of traffic on the main roads.

Wow that trail looks fun! Is that 4n32?

Nice going on making a ride out of the day! I chickened out, but at least i can live vicariously through your photos...

I did go down to scott's to have them throw on a D606...maybe now, tire traction will overcome my weak skillz on that loose hillclimb off BPL! Anyone here ridden the 606? What can i expect for milage on the pavement?

Say no to forest fires!

Yup, I've now done Lynx, too

Thanks to Paul (trid) for leading us

I like 606's. I would get close to 6000 miles of mixed riding.

Lots of us run them. Think I got about 4,000 miles out of my last one, but a lot of that was pavement running on a long trip up to the northwest; but there was a decent amount of Colorado dirt (rocks) too. It was pretty shot by then; center knobs probably down to roughly 1/8". Normally I'd say 3,000 miles is more common, lots of hard dirt and pavement mix, but it's way used up by then. Lots of folks would change them before that.

Tire wear is a very personal thing, depends so much on terrain type, throttle control, riding style, etc... oh, and how willing you are to ride with short center knobs. But overall I have been very impressed with the 606 as a dual sport tire. Always a bit surprised how well it sticks on the road, particularly the rear tire. The front is not quite as inspiring on the paved twisties, as say a TKC80, but then it is better in the dirt than the TKC so pick your poison.

Danny, not too sure if anyone is planning on camping, but we will be there on Saturday the 22nd, camping still a possibility if anyone else is
