I was riding up there a few months ago and saw guys with trucks full of yucca bushes too. What do they do with those things?

Still wanting to get out and ride with you all, it seems like every weekend there's something going on with family this time of year. One of thse weekends though

My "no bike" buddy was in town on sat, so i did the next best thing to riding the ANF, i took the jeep out and played in the dirt. We went to newcombs and passed all you FF's on the way down Big Tujunga. I couldn't believe how many of you guys i saw. I'd see two or three in a group, then the big group led by NW, then two or three more by the time I got to ANF.
At the very end i passed Artboy...looking lonely.

I ended up over the hills, off Mt Emma and Chesebro. THere is MILES of fun roads and single track over there! Should plan a ride! Then i sunk the jeep in a giant water hole and was stranded for 3 hours...hahaha...just had to take the Dist cap off and dry it with a tshirt!

Great pix everyone. Looks like fun! Can't wait to ride again with the group!

yeah, leave my house around 6:30am and leave JV before sunset. it will be easy riding for me.

i got a phone call from my doctor last week and he wanted to talk to me. today he told me to see an orthopedic surgeon, the torn ligaments on my right shoulder have to be reconnected, that explains why mu shoulder is assymetrical, the shoulder blade got separated.

so for now, back to nOOb status.....

That sucks. Hope this won't change your Baja plans.

i really dont have any experience with them, do you have to download maps for them, or are they plug and play?

are they detailed enough to show forest service roads? trails?

even if it doesnt know the name of the trail, will it show where it goes?

when you get home, can you plug it in to see where you went, or before you go can you plot out a ride and have the gps say "hey foo, hang a right."
there are only 2 gps i can recommend, the 60csx and the other one that most adv riders on big bike prefer, made by garmin..forgot the name..sito has one.

in addition, you have to buy the northern america mapsource software, and the topo if you want to show the terrain. the basic is easy, but in depth, it's hard to understand and i can't teach you in 1 post. the best way is take me out to lunch once you have the 60csx and i will teach you everything you need to know.

you could pick up the 60 with mapsource around $350 + $80 for the topo (i personally want one but can do away without)

get a Garmin 60csx or 76csx and get a RAM mount

i really dont have any experience with them, do you have to download maps for them, or are they plug and play?

just buy the disc "city navigator" and upload into the unit.

are they detailed enough to show forest service roads? yes trails? some

even if it doesnt know the name of the trail, will it show where it goes? sometimes, but mostly yes

when you get home, can you plug it in to see where you went, yes or before you go can you plot out a ride and have the gps say "hey foo, hang a right." yes, if you like jive talk

baja is in my blood dood.

the first thing i asked my doctor is there a time limit to get the surgery and he said no. for now, i can live with the discomfort without the painkiller, i'm used to pain believe me.

i can put off the surgery and wait until my job is jeopardy, not at this time though. if ever i get unemployed, i can collect disability.
