seriously, i think with this snow...we're pretty much grounded.

anyone has ideas?
What about the trails around Jawbone?

Also, the mountains around Santa Barbara have some dirt along the Camino Cielo (similar to SCD) and goes to some hot springs in the east and to Refugio Beach in the west. And Santa Barbara has a lot to offer for post-ride grub . . . http://www.coldspringtavern.com/

hey nick, good to hear from you. i was thinking we scared you on your first and last ride with us...., there's a good chance that there will still be snow up in the forest by this weekend......we'll know in a couple of days.

what's the chances of seeing snow up in angeles forest? scd, bpl, and sito's trail, and lower 4N24, and lynx may be ok...not sure unless sognix gives us another first hand report.

Nicely done! If she'll put up with the bike foolishness, you're solid. I just hit 25 years, it goes fast! Congrats.

heh

well, my friend Jason and I were up there Sunday Night (Dinner at Newcomb's) and it started to snow pretty good right about Mt Wilson Road and a few miles down from it.

DSCF9087
Not much in the pics, but the white dots on my jacket and in the background are snowflakes.
These where taken at the Ranger Station on Angeles Crest and Angeles Forest Hwys. We continued down on Angeles Crest and it was snowing so hard I had to slow down cuz I couldn't see the road anymore thru my headlight. It was snowing maybe another 3 miles down the road from there?

Here's a webcam on the Observatory:
http://www.astro.ucla.edu/~obs/towercam.htm

Yep, there's snow up there! At least by about Mt Wilson.

I'd be willing to ride up and check on some certain areas if you'd like. Altho I won't do dirt on my own.

thanks sergio!

ok, from the past, we never saw snow from scd to bpl.

the plan is meet at 7:11 @ 8am

take little t
east on scd
down indian canyon
back up to scd
down bpl
sito's trail to the water crossing (this will be fun, it will be deep this time.... )
halfway 4n24 until we hit snow, or try to get thru (may be fun!.. )

then back track the same way we came in if the snow is just too deep.

others who want to bail out, they can do so on aliso.

i prefer taking little t on my way home.

all the routes are from easy to intermediate, nothing gnarly other than the snow.

this was from last march on 4N24, near the top...

GLENDORA - Officials flew two men to the hospital Sunday after their motorcycles collided head-on on a mountain road north of Glendora, officials said.
The was reported about noon at mile-marker 7 on Glendora Mountain Road, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Eugene Riva, 30, of Lakewood suffered major head trauma and broken bones and was hospitalized in critical condition, CHP and fire officials said.
Hansen Liu, 35, of San Gabriel suffered multiple broken bones in his limbs, CHP officials said in a written statement.
The crash occurred as Rive was southbound on Glendora Mountain Road on a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, and Liu was northbound on a 2001 Suzuki GSXR motorcycle, officials said.
For unknown reasons, Riva is believed to have crossed the center line in the road as both motorcycles went through a curve in opposite directions, the statement said.
The motorcycles collided, throwing both riders from their bikes, officials said. They were taken by helicopter to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, officials said.
From the Pasadena Star News.

I think this must be the one my daughter had in the ER yesterday.....

not the Crest after all, if the paper has it right
Yup thoses are the ones, I didn't know the extent of the second rider's injuries cuz he was on the other side of the trauma area and the other team of nurses was working on him but I knew we had gotten the more severly injured patient in my side
