That was no wr, That was a pair of DRZ400s'. The infamous Purelick and Klammer cruisin SCD to BPL and out to the 49er. Ran into a brand nOOb to ADV. Toby from Arcadia on a new KLR 650. He tagged along with us as proof that DRZ's are willing to nap on ice. Sorry no pics but I swear both blondes were at the 49er!

New Year's and Saturday Rides

Right now we have 2 events going on for the New Year

1) Dove Springs
2) Anza Borrego

I would be good for either one but don't have the right bike. The XR is waiting for parts, damn snow ride..it cost me $70 in repair....

The 640A is being conserved for the Baja Ride on Jan. 9th.

That leaves me with the GS12.... , i hate lifting a big bike......

For next Saturday...we can do a big bike adventure ride....over 300 miles. If Carrizo has no snow, this is a good one for 950s and GS. Of course, all bike sizes are welcome, although I recommend at least a 640 and up. Knobs are not required.

what's up for this new year or saturday?

ej is going to dove springs, espi at anza borrego, ????

I was out there a few hours before you were. Took the bike out for some exercise. Yeah, slab, but it beats a drained battery (which the scooter is suffering from right now).

I came past the Carrizo area and up and over Hwy. 33 last night. No snow on either one. Lots of rocks on 33 though!

I am up for a ride to either Carrizo or Anza Borrego.. I will be in Temecula for New Years!!

Saturday Ride

option 1) carrizo

option 2) terranova route and beyond

i like carrizo but i also realize we have a big ride the following weekend. my instinct says do local and shake down the 640A as my prerun for next week.

there are a lot of riders with small bikes that can only do local, hope they will chime in.

sorry for the flipflops....

I want to ride, but having a truck up your @$$ when you lose traction and get stuck / need to back up really sucks!

Anyone interested doing a ride & camp-out at Agua Caliente campground in Anza Borrego? They have campsites with facilities, which include mineral hot springs:
http://www.totalescape.com/active/le...acaliente.html

The weather was fantastic last New Years Day, and there's another giant campground nearby (if needed) that was more than half empty last year.

The big bikes could ride there and the small ones could haul or trailer their bikes & gear . . .

There are fairly easy dirt trails nearby and the road up to Julian is very twisty and scenic.

If not this weekend, keep it in mind for another one!

On Saturday I'd like to do something local and fairly chill (I'm still trying to get my dirt legs back). SCD, Lynx, ?.

I just want to give the 640A a mild beating and get a feel how the bikes performs so it doesn't die on me when we do the Baja next week.

Meet up at 7-11 @ 8:00 AM. I plan to do the terranova route (same as church sunday ride), and explore the 3 canyons.

This is an easy and short run in comparison with previous rides. We can hang out at some flat and hilly sections and work on our skills.
