The desert is beautiful right now. Got in over 300 miles, w/ over 100 in the dirt.

Just checking in.

3 of us noobs went out, had a good ride on Lynx today. The trail is in great shape, not much dust, and very little traffic. Even less carnage. 1 mirror mount was the casualty today. Nobody got kicked in the noobicles by their bike.

My mom's friend who just turned 80 has an 8 year old 130 lb great dane that collapsed. I had to go pick her up and load her in the van and get her to the vet.

Turns out the dog ate a bag of macadamia nuts which are toxic to dogs. One of the symptoms is temporary paralysis. The vet gave her an anti-toxin and she's recovering well.

I am really new to trail riding. You guys made it look easy. I lost the mirror. What a small price to pay for so much fun.

it's always fun going out with the guys. wait until pacifico opens up to the public again...we get to ride a dirt superhighway and have lunch at newcomb's. almost everyweekend we get to do that last summer.

if there's enough nOObs who wants to do a nOObs ride, we can organize one and ride within your comfort level without pressure from others.

we can also ask some of the better riders to come out and give pointers to the nOObs.

riding next weekend?

Hoping for a ride this coming up weekend. Seeing all of the other ride reports keeps the juices flowing during the down weekends....thanks Johngil! Last weekend there was a discussion about the Spot, I found the link for a free spot that expires today. You buy the basic service and the additional tracking that lets you drop marks on the google map while riding, $150 annual. I added a case for $20.
1 x SPOT Complete Bundle - SPOT + Basic Service + Tracking Service (SB-UATS)
= $319.97
1 x SPOT Carry Case Rugged Orange (SPOT CR OR) = $19.99
------------------------------------------------------
Sub-Total: $339.96
Free Shipping Options (Free Shipping - UPS Ground): $0.00
Coupon: GORDON23 : -$169.99
Tax: $17.42
Total: $187.39

It says the offer expires today.

Another interesting thing is you can also get insurance for the device for $18 per year with $30 deductable during activation as well as this insurance for $8 year.
(if purchased at initial activation. $150.00 USD afterwords) Provides up to $100,000 USD of additional search and rescue resources, including helicopter extraction around the world and reimbursement benefits for any emergency service expenses incurred. For more information, including terms and conditions, visit http://www.geosalliance.com/sar

No, I am not a sales person for Spot. I would hope that at least 1 person on the group rides has one. I know on the last ride there were quite a few that already do.

Joel, still waiting on those videos........

I found it easy to use without reading any instructions to merge and crop the AVI files that come out of your digital camera. The youtube part is easy.
