I caught mine in time on a KZ1000. Made one hell of a racket at idle.

Hey....where did you steal the construction cone from?...and why don't you bring it with you on our rides...we can use it to direct traffic around your bike every time it takes a nap....... ....

That's interesting Joel. The stator bolts loctite fix is one of the preventive fixes recommended for my DRZ.

Solution seems to be to use threadlocker on them. And I also haven't done it, hoping for the best...

Everytime I work on the bike or when I was rebuilding a motor, I put Loctite on EVERY bolt thread. Bummer what a $1 bolt can do

Joel, i was gonna ask if you looked into getting it repaired, but it looks pretty bad- maybe not possible.

thanks ben. so far i only read 1 incident had the same problem at 16K miles, mine is 12K! it's an easy fix and it should be ready before the big bear ride...

the rotor cores are bent and chewed up. a new one cost @ $200+

the flywheel is all dented inside and chipped @ $300+

damn orange bike...parts are not cheap. good chance they are in stock.

no one sells threadlocker yet that is not hypoallergenic..

+1...........few months ago, i bought the 648 and 243 which are the ktm recommended threadlockers for use inside the crankcase; now i can put them to use.....

Remember that's a KTM bolt that things like $19.99 and two weeks to come in. Still sucks that it can cause all that damage. Ben

i hope that's the last bad juju. i already replaced or fixed most of the potential problems or known issues. this 640A still has lots of miles left.
