Ok
finally home. I had so much fun that my L shoulder is killing me.
![]() It is possible that the pain is secondary to the fall I had during my warm-up.. or riding the rest of the day did not help it to. No more riding till WMRS. Ok only to test the G650X when Ill finely get it

First of all, I thank everyone for showing up and sharing another fun ride. Riders as far as Orange County and Ventura were there and truly proud of you. A lot of new and friendly faces, both noobs and advanced riders.
The ride started on time, for most, StuCazzo and I got lost and didn't get to the camp until past 9am. I apologize to everyone for waiting and missing the breakfast that I promised. The weather was nice all the time mid 80s during the day and in the 60s in the evening. The camp we chose was Circle Canyon, isolated from the rest and on the hill side with a nice view and lots of shade. The guys did a good job picking up the best spot in the camp. View of the camp from the road at an elevation of 3, 900 ft. ![]() View from the camp overlooking the trails ![]() Dunerat, BullsEye, and Notmybike start lining up ![]() StuCazzo, Bob, John, Bob, and Sopascat ![]() Nice view of the valley ![]() All looking ready, just waiting for the rest ![]() All the riders that showed us Sat morning, just waiting for the h8chains ![]() More parking lot pics Bouncing Billy on the 2smoke YZ ![]() BullsEye and the official KTM colore ![]() Still have to upload the rest of the pics, and will post them with the report. Another good weekend for the local ADV community.

Over the top of that intital canyon started the really fun stuff. 22 miles of 12-36" single track, 180 degree switchbacks and nearly vert cliff riding , rock gardens, the always fun low hanging branches waiting to off an unsuspecting (and suspecting) rider, and the always fun 18" wide ridge ride with 60 degree drops on both sides. Really not a place for a Dakar, which made it all that much more fun. I hope Joel got some photos of the terrain, because my helmetcam was unknowingly off the whole time Thanks for letting me come along everyone, and a special thanks to Dunerat, H8chains, DannyG and Bro, and Stucazzo for some excellent food. Dunerat (Noel) brought the best Carne Asada I've ever had and we threw that down with enough Mexican Beers to make a "sweet girl" have sex with everyone in the camp (just not our camp). For those that were there last night, you know what I mean ![]() Great riding with everyone, let's do it again. By the way, I'm in for Mex in October. notmybikemodelname screwed with this post 06-29-2008 at 10:30 PM |

Nice day of riding on Saturday.
This was without a doubt the best catered ride I've ever attended.... thanks in no small part to Joel. (muffins, sandwich materials, chips, drinks) To top things off, Noel pulled out a huge shrimp cocktail platter and for dessert, Cathy pulled out a nice cheesecake. I had a blast trying to keep up with DuneRat and Bouncing Billy (who was riding on a flat front most of the day ) and with Notmybikemodelname and Stu Cazzo on the big bikes never far behind.I didn't get many pics, here are the few I did take... Saturday Morning Ride
Our fearless trail leader was Danny G., it seems he's the only one who knows the area very well.
Not too long after we left the camp, our first run is that big hill on the right and BullsEye is ready to take the hill climb. Shitz, all the noobs at this point are spooked including me. ![]() The first rider was Steve and he did it w/ ease on a 600R .Next was our trail leader on his CF450X, and ooooops ![]() The unidentified ADV rider summoned Steve to move on, but meantime, StuCazzo and I hiked up, Stu to help and me to take a close up picture The hike was so steep that Stu and I have to grab on to the chain link fence on the right to prevent from sliding down the hill. The rider was hurt and could get back on his bike, shoulder badly bruised which no one knows until we went back to camp for lunch a couple of hours later. ![]() With a little help, and a lot of huffing and puffing, the bike is upright again ![]() ![]() After the big hill, we move on into tougher and scarier trails Hmmm....I think they are talking of taking us noobs to some black diamond single track trails. ![]() These 3 unsuspecting riders didn't know what's up ahead, including myself; sitting behind is notmybikemodelname and making sure they don't go anywhere ![]() Even an intermediate rider StuCazzo soon will also be a victim ![]() Billy and Taylor, they make good babysitters ![]() The trailhead ![]() We're all ADV riders, so we skipped all the easy trails ![]() Danny G coming out of the trail ![]() Followed by StuCazzo ![]() The place was so big, and easy to get lost. Steve was searching all over the place and found us ![]() We regrouped ![]() ![]() ![]() StuCazzo and BullsEye ![]() Enough chitchat, the ringleaders decided to move forward with the plan ![]() Going along as planned ![]() ![]() Sopascat so far so good ![]() The trail ahead is so easy and the group chose to do the single track on the right ![]() Few of the happy moments that morning ![]() ![]() This what awaits us and only about 36" wide of loose rocks and ruts. It's a goat trail without goats!![]() More, and this one is a few inches wider ![]() I don't know what to say, but I felt my bike was shaking more than it should (the motor was'nt even on).![]() At this point, we're almost at 5500 ft, camp was at 3800 ft. The nice scenery could not distract the aprehension building up in me ![]() Enough of picture taking bull shit, need to concentrate on my riding or instant death. After the ride, lunch on a picnic table was the most welcome event that morning. More pics tomorrow. Thanks for putting up with my amateur reporting.

Hi, all!
Sucks that I could only be there Sat, but I had a great time! Everybody was great, and I'll be trying to make every ride I possibly can. As soon as I fix the rear wheel bearings. Tried to ride it today, and they're wasted! Glad they lasted until I got home. You made me commit bike abuse! Can't wait to do it some more...

Back to camp for the much needed rest
![]() ![]() For lunch we had roastbeef and italian cut sandwiches, pizza, cheese cake, beer, soda, water, gatorade, and more ![]() And my favorite, thanks Dunerat ![]() It was fun hanging out with everyone ![]() Noel, Joel, and Frank ![]() John, Billy, and Taylor ![]() After lunch, everyone was too lazy to ride ![]() It seems Danny G is nursing some pain ![]() so is Cathy I just noticed something's written on Rob's shirt , but when he turned his back![]() now it's ............... ![]() Discussing the Sat afternoon ride ![]() This bike is done for the day ![]() I thought Honda XR600R is indestructable ![]() Finally got everyone to saddle up except for the 2 injured riders and the rider with a broken bike BullsEye, BouncingBilly, Dunerat and BongoDave (who will be slippin and sliding on those street tires) ![]() Cathy's young son John (in honda red) was coming too, and he did good that afternoon ![]() Again, we're ADV riders and skipped all the easy runs ![]() ![]() ![]() Log jam at the trailhead ![]() Yahoooo we found another black diamond ![]() BongoDave was not bothered by the sign even on those street tires ![]() StuCazzo can handle anything, in spite of a spill earlier in the day ![]() Young John made it through without a scratch, yeah, those black diamonds are just over rated, especially for h8chains ![]() We have to split into 2 groups, notmybikemodelname started to feel last night's binge with Xjon ![]() John and BongoDave thinking of going back to the camp too ![]() And they took off ![]() While the brave and the few hanged on ![]() ![]() The Martians have landed ![]() So the five of us completed the loop and caught up with the group minutes later. Boy we were fast! More pics later! |
