This is my take in ridding injuries from my personal experience:
First ,manny o the guys the get injury have a new bike or modern more captable bike the before and the head swell big before take the time to finetune the machine 100%.
Second : manny times I put a ride and invite intermedia adn expert only guys ,begginers come also ,i can get the feel very quick and i slow the pace for the reason i not like the see guys get hurt (very important for ride leaders is no how the guys behind you are keeping up), wnt that sappens i some times make the pace slower and look for hills, washes and places were the begginer can improve their skills.
Third : not matter how good o new you bike is ,terrain reading is key o safe ride .
4th : ride you own pace and ride ,and leave room for a mistake ,I only ride 90% o my level went racing for a full season for championship points, in play rides i ride 50-70 % max ,and always try the be smooth .
5th remember the we ride bikes the are more powerfull o the same us nascar cars if you compare hp/weight ratio , but is only 2 wheels and the bumper is you .
6th . Be honest with yourself and determine were you belong in a ride (front, mid o back o the pack), especial if not want to be roosted.
7th always remember the notes in the top.

I not want to start a flame o discussion here abouth this ,is just my take from all the years i been ridding 27+, and my personal experience outside o this greath group o guys . heal quick and get back in 2 wheels soon .

hmmm.... what's more local? Cleveland Na. Forest isn't really local, I'd have to catch a ride to make it there I think since I'm only ln a 350.

Some guys haul their bikes to distant trails with their pickup trucks. If i had a truck i'd offer you a lift. A nice way to save your knobbies and energy for the dirt . . .

The Cleveland National Forest is that mountain range 15 miles to your East. The one the sun peaks over most mornings. It continues down all the way to San Diego. Most weekends, someone will ride up there. This past weekend there were 10 of us that rode together. Most times the ride will start from the end of Silverado Canyon Rd. That is probably 25-30 miles from you. There are approximately 80 miles of trails up there between Corona and Ortega Hwy. There are many more miles South of Ortega Hwy. There is nothing too difficult up there but some spots may be a little challenging if you are new to dirt.
