To put this into perspective, I went to sleep @ 4 am.
Then I woke up at 7 and went riding.

What's your excuse? It was wet?

Well, when I got to Rowher, it was PERFECT.

I dunno why but I tried a little double black diamond to start with.

Rower Double Black Diamond "Most Difficult" roughly equals Javier "easy"

I feel OK that my first crash was on a "difficult" trail, but I feel real bad that it was an insanely easy section. Truth be told the trail wadn't nuthin.
I dunno what happened, I just got sucked into the wall. I guess I was just stiff/out of practice or something.

I think I set a new record even for me, brand new $50 windshield, lasted about 12 minutes til I drove it straight into a rock.

Carne A-total=$50 (not counting the fiberglass that makes me )

My new HDB Guard/signals now match the rest of the bike, my cool reflective tape died before ever being illuminated

Like Earl Mentioned before, there are a few puddles, but most of them have dried up.

But not all of them I avoided most of the puddles...

But not all of them

I pretty much went straight over rowher and then just took various dirt in the general direction of Rock Inn. I did pretty good considering I have no Maps and no Clue what the trails were.
No pix cuz the riding was just that good. I got to Rock inn about 11 am.

When I left Rock inn after talking smack on the site it naturally started to rain.

I missed the trail out of lake Hughes, and I drove quite a while the wrong direction. I ended up by that rehab place where the trail goes to Castiac... That gate's open BTW I think it's been closed ery time I've been.

Finally I backtracked to the back-side of Rower. I went up the upper part of Rower truck trail because my recollection was that it was the bottom that was hairy.
Mostly true, but add a nice misting of water and them rocks get a bit slick.

I had a couple issues but managed get to the top. Then I got lost and had to do the hill all over again.

it was early and I was gonna head home cus it started raining really good. It seemed like Rowher was the most direct path over the mountain so I kept at it all the way over the summit.
Then I came upon this downhill descent that was INSANE. 45 degrees at least, with a layer of mud on top of loose dirt and rock. My camera died so I started taking pix with the iPhone.

After the last shot I went a couple miles down that hill and then stopped for another photo, only I'd forgotten to zip the top bag and the iPhone was gone.
Carne A-total=$550!

I turned around and went about 1/3 mile over pretty easy terrain looking for the phone but not finding it. When I got to the really steep section I was pretty sure I couldn't go back up it, so I walked another 3/4 of a mile, straight frikken up.
I got really, really, REALLY tired. and I was beyond pissed. Finally I gave up and returned to the bike. Once there I tried the Hill Climb, and Learned I was right. Crash #2.

Carne A-total=$579!

I got the bike righted fairly easily, it was STEEP, but was unable to get traction going up again, and that battle got me REALLY tired. SO I gave up and took a blue trail about 2 miles back to the main Rower Truck Trail. This "intermediate" trail seemed far harder than any of the difficult trails I'd been on so far, but it might have been exhaustion setting in. I got to Rowher and bombed up it pretty easily, when I got to the top of the steep trail I stopped and the bike started leaning. I fought it and fought it, and eventually dropped it. No reason other than just frikken tired.
Crash #3.

I went back down the steep hill, but no luck on the iPhone.
By now my early day is shot cuz I've spent three hours looking for it. I refuse to give up, but it's starting to get dark and it's starting to rain pretty hard, which I figure is bad news for an iPhone on a mountain.

When I get to the steepest part, I spend another 10 minutes struggling to turn around and go to the top looking one more time.
No Luck so I give up and go back down the steep hill. I go all the way to where I discovered it missing and...
Tada!

It BARELY missed falling in a huge puddle, and it thought headphones were plugged in for about an hour, but it works!!!!!

Carne A-total=$79! Cheap for me!

Now as for tomorrow, I'm still in.
Last time I changed oil the re were chunks of metal in it, and in Baja Clayton's 610 done blowed up, so I've been paranoid as hell. The guru told me it could be nothin and to ride a bit and see if it persists. So, anyway, I dumped the oil and the plug was CLEAN!

I'm movin to Seattle and I wanna say Bye to you FF's. BUT

if my clutch hand keeps hurting I may be out. If it's really raining or really cold I may be out, and if I don't wake up i might be out. so call me 50/50 at this point. I'm planning on meeting at the Halfway house.

When I left Rowher, the roads had turned to SNOT! You guys missed the best conditions, tomorrow is gonna be epic allright, but probably not like you were hoping for.
awesome reporting xymo; glad to see you're home safely and the bike good for the next ride....

[quote=sito]Well I guess this ride will separate the men from the boys? It looks to me like the perfect conditions for a great ride! Don't let Joel scare you he's been out of practice for a few months. If he doesn't have a dust cloud to follow he gets lost! See you men in the morning! the girls e will just have to wait for the ride report.
