Joel, Why do you hate your avatar? I just got used to you being a serial killer, and then you change it. OK I let that one slide but now some entirely new person is posting like we should know who the hell he is.

I have gone to the DR650 thread. It is model specific but I thought I would ask an area specific thread to get info in tune with the trails there.

the 2 biggest upgrades for the DR will be bigger tank (i had IMS 4.2) and suspension upgrade mainly the front, it to soft and can be a problem if riding in the soft stuff.
Thanks. I may forgo the tank and run a kolpin can for now. I want to do the basics and save for a KTM.

I won't go below 14t with a front sprocket on anything. I think its more wear on the chain and front sprocket.

520 sprockets and chains are available too but I am not dragging a knee on the DR at willow like the Duc so for the DR I like having some surplus chain strength when you are out in the middle of nowhere.

Chris, Aaron, and myself met up on Saturday to ride out to Gorman. The morning was some good canyon roads followed by a nice long dirt section to Gorman.

It was a bit cold at elevation.

But the views were amazing.

The aftermath of a previous fire.

That's frost on the trees. Seriously. There were only some small patches of snow on the trail, but the temp showed 0C in Gorman.

Chris on the way down the mountian to Gorman.

The most exciting part of the day came from watching in slow motion as Chris led the way while a truck was making a u-turn in the middle of the road. Are they going to stop or keep going? Chris opted for attempting going around the front of the truck in hopes they were going to stop. Luckily the shoulder was soft. Notice the tire tracks; it could had ended up a lot differently, but thankfully no one was injured!

After a mexican lunch Aaron and I split from Chris, shot down the 5, and took Topenga down to the ocean to finish off the day.

Thanks again for showing us the way Chris.

Spafixr and I hit DV this weekend. Video to follow tomorrow.

Today we rode Saline Valley, up Lippencott, to The Race Track. Only took a few pics worth sharing. Took the same route out, as we have little tanks.

Rev Was being gracious not mentioning that I dumped the bike into a muddy rut, He left out the part about me passing a Porsche on the double yellow, and also kindly left off the part where I almost looped the bike in Downtown Manhattan Beach when my foot slipped off the brake doing a completely uncalled for and reckless little wheelie.

Glad you got a shot of the Pogonip on the trees. It was really amazing. And cold!

It was a really nice ride though, a good day

The dust is starting to come back slowly but surely.
