I think it depends on the demand for them where you live. Where I live that would be a great deal on the DR if it was out the door. Somtimes they will advertise the price then add, 500 dealer fee\500 assemb fee and things of that nature not to mention tax and tag.

I am almost 5 8" so that means I am 5 7, and yes you can do it, it all depends on what you feal comfortable with, I don't put both feet down (I can't) but I never need to, just tip toe it and at stop lights put one one and the other is touching the break or just waiting to hit first gear. When I put my Icon boots I am taller, with the tourmaster's I am normal heigh. You could try lowering links, a dish seat from corbin (I did but it was not for me) both will get you closer to the ground, but neither is for me. Just my experience Damasovi |

The DR350 has some strong fans on this forum. If it's really clean and any significant percentage of your intended riding is rough trails, I would lean that direction. Weight with full gas tanks:
Kawasaki KLR650, 442 lbs, Cycle World, Nov. 2007 Kawasaki KLR650, 401 lbs, Motorcyclist, Sep. 1989, Oct. 1990, Sept. 1992 Suzuki DR650, 367 lbs, Cycle World, Feb. 96 Honda XR650L, 347 lbs, Motorcyclist, Sept. 1992, Nov. 1993 Suzuki DR350S, 304 lbs, Motorcyclist, Oct. 1990

Mine weighs 332 pounds with 3.5 gallons of gas (stock amount). And why the hell would you post weights FULL of gas? Are you suggesting that a KTM 640 should be advertised as 45 lbs heavier than they actually are because they can hold 7 gallons of gas? Just because a bike will hold that much weight in fuel doesn't mean that you have to FILL it to ride it. When I had my 640's I would regularly only put a few gallons in it unless I was out on a trip that required more. We care about how much these weights are when presented on a level playing field. Full of everything they need except gas. Gas is a variable that we as riders have full control of... Going for a short ride? A gallon or two is enough and I wouldn't need to have my 4.9 gallon tank FULL... Yes I'm going 205 here. That's because the poster of this thread may not have read your "weight" thread... |

then again, I'm 6'1" and love my DR650. The KLR just wasn't quite for my likings ergo wise. But I can drop the suspension on it and my 5'3" wife has no problem with it. All depends on your liking. Sit on them get a feel for them, ride them if you can.

Suzuki DR650S, 388 lbs, Motorcyclist, Sept. 1992 Suzuki DR650, 367 lbs, Cycle World, Feb. 96 You are telling us that your Suzuki weighs 35 pounds less on the scale you weighed it on than it weighs on the scale used by Cycle World. It's possible that your scale is perfectly accurate and the Cycle World scale is off by 35 pounds. But I don't have access to your scale. I'm posting relative weights, and as long as the scales in my list are comparable, then all the weights listed are comparable. When the Triumph Tiger came out in 1995, Motorcyclist said it weighed 565 pounds with a full tank and Cycle World tested it a month later and said it weighed 566. One pound difference on a quarter ton motorcycle is pretty close, so I consider the numbers from the two magazines interchangable. Anyway, bottom line, whatever your DR650 weighs, my list shows shows the ranking and how it compares to others, and the comparison is accurate. Quote:
"Absolutely! As you point out, it is perverse to penalize the manufacturers for providing additional gas capacity to a stock motorcycle, when as adventure riders, that's one of the things we are always screaming about. Unfortunately, weight with a full tank is the only number I can find that is comparable. Various magazines over the years have listed weight three different ways: tank empty, tank full, or weight with half a tank of fuel. Obviously the latter measurement is subjective and lends itself to inconsistent results. The first would be the most fair way to compare, but it is the most rare."

EDIT: I just went out and weighed one of my dr350 holding about 3 gallons of gas at the moment and on the SAME scale I weighed my DR650, the DR350 weighs 302 lbs. My scale is pretty darn close to right-on. Please don't take my comments as a threat or offensively. I'm not in the best of moods today. At work, I'll hide my mood. On a forum, moods can be fun and provocative at times. I don't take myself as seriously as I come across but I'm NOT making this stuff up just to make my bike seem lighter. As long as it feels the same as it does now I wouldn't care if the scale read 500 lbs... Hi-jack over... We can go back to your thread if we want to get in to a further heated discussion over weight. neepuk screwed with this post 03-11-2008 at 03:25 PM |

Are those tires IRC GP110's. Looks like the same tires I have on my klr250. I've put almost 1k miles on them. How do they work on my dr650?
Yes, they're GP110's. So far only 100 miles in the sand covered roads of New England, I like them. I'll need another 400 or 500 miles in "good" weather to really judge.
