We have a POOL party this afternoon.

Oh well ...

So lets hope for good weather next weekend on the 20th. We could have a raincheck ride on Sunday the 21... or do an encore ride if its really pretty.

Spring Conecuh Ride –
Date: Saturday April 20, 2013 9AM Roll out time
Start: Karick Lake DAY USE AREA –
30 53.731
86 38.402
About 6 miles North of Baker – Go to NORTH – I say again _ North entrance. If you go to the South you will have to come back out again.
IMPORTANT
Please be considerate of campers in the area. We start very close to the campgrounds and I ask everyone NOT to start your bikes and ride around while we are getting ready. Your bike should be ready to ride when you get there. If you MUST start your bike early and fiddle with it then go to the road and ride out of hearing. We don’t want to ruin our relationship with the campers here.

The ride itself is an easy Dual Sport ride that is mostly dirt roads with some pavement. Planned stops at Open Pond (25 miles) in Alabama and at Wing for gas and food (at about 65 miles out). Other stops along the way at various ponds for photos ops. I suggest you bring water and snacks for road side refreshments. The ride is about 125 miles long.

I have included several options (especially during the last 40 miles) where you can take an easy or “more difficult” route. Bigger bikes or less skilled sand riders my want to stay on clay roads and not venture off into the deep sand and heavy ruts. I don’t think high water will be an issue.

I plan on camping at Karick Lake Friday and Saturday night. If you want to camp remember its first come first serve and $20 cash per night.

If we have a large number of riders and dust is a problem we may split up into smaller groups. I have GPS tracks if anyone wants them before had (PM me your email). I will have computer with me at camper but if you need tracks downloaded come to me EARLY. I won’t be doing that at the last minute.

That’s all I can think of for now. Pray for good weather.

congrats madmax!

I did not fare so well sunday, all the rain turned kisatchie natnl forest into a quagmire..

before:

after:

I houred out at a hill we named "the wall"

I say we, because when I came to it, there was a field of bodies and motorcycles lying all over the hill. So I parked the bike and started helping folks up, including riding girls bikes up the hill for them.

Still got 8th in class

there was alot of DNFs this weekend.

Sorry the weather took away the real ride. All that way to play in the slop when it COULD have been sooo sweet.

Congrats on 8th. It all matters at the end and you were there!

Rotorhead? Did you ride? Mark Powell said it was muddy...

Ha! Kevin stealing the show!
Congratulation to Doug for winning that second place trophy.
Imagine: Snagging a pretty woman that rides motorcycles really well ?
Doug's a lucky fella!
Enjoyed riding the 600. Really surprised about the snap/pop it has!

Way to go to you too Madmax and Jeremiah!

Vic, pm sent with my email address for those tracks for your ride Saturday. With chance of rain Friday it may turn out to be a dust free ride.........

What about a cookout after we get back to the campsite? Hamburgers/hotdogs?
We all could chip in with food/drink supplies.

Got several from the breakfast club coming.
I'd like to be part of a Beast ride if the ride route allows that,,, in your opinion.

Hatch,
Yea the weather forecast was not good for Sunday. It took a turn for the worst real fast. I remember the hill, it was muddy at the bottom in the left turn, but once past that it was fine all the way up.. That would have been a great picture of all the bikes stuck on the hill..

Most important you had fun and no injuries..
Anyone know how RH did?

Coupla things

MadMax - Hatch was at an Enduro in LA where there is in fact a real Hill...
You did not ride that in Florida.
Weather however was the same shit.

Madhouse brought up the idea of a cookout after the ride on Saturday.
Sounds like a good idea. I know there were 4 or 5 of us camping out on Friday and Saturday so we could host a hot dog and hamburger thing after the ride on Saturday afternoon. Or even order BBQ from Mickeys.

This of course brings another dynamic to the ride. How many people do I need to buy for? 10 - 20 maybe 30?

So give me some feed back here guys and gals.
First - do we want to have a cook out
Second - how many will eat?
Donations of say $25 per hot dog would be appreciated!!!

This hill was basically the side of a 30' levee in the middle of the woods, about a 60 degree hill, no way around, only 2 lines (straight up or diagonal across), comprised of silty clay. wet, silty clay. you could not walk up said hill, and when you crashed on it, you couldn't walk the bike down - it was more of a slip n slide action... it was ugly. wish I had a helmet cam for that!

yup the old girls bike has a whole new topend, reeds, gnarly pipe, langston setting on the PV, front tire, tuned carb to stop eating plugs...

it did well, no mechanical issues it's first race. you should get that girl a 125/150 if she likes mx...
