Inept said he didn't care for my 650 with street tires/pressure off road, and it is not a real planted feel in that config to be sure. With 705's and reasonable pressure the Vee was a breeze at 50-60 on maintained dirt roads. In the rougher stuff it is capable, but requires more on the riders part to keep things in check. Eloy has no problems on the Vee he got from me in some stuff that gives mucho pucker factor to ordinary riders.
Buzz, was that with stock suspension? Mine is stock and feels a lot like that mail truck I bought back in 1981.......sloppy! Vic on the other hand, has Ohlins suspenders on his!

Yes, stock on both ends of both bikes, and the 1000 had 80k on it

I honestly can't feel the added weight of the Vee offroad, but the power is really apparent on the street. Then again, I'm no rider, just a part timer.

I'd be up for a "beastish" type ride Tomorrow. I don't have a beast but the 625 in SUMO trim can pretend like a beast, if the speeds are below 80 and pit stops can come around 60 to 90 mi.

The dirt setup is out of action till I get some new rubber and I think I've been sold, by some of you on here, to go tubliss.

Really looking forward to this if it happens as now planned?

This will be a Beast ride so a run through the abandoned train tunnel will be out of the question.............maybe.

Second Saturday in June will be the date if its not raining so put it on your calendar.

Tim and others,
Yes it's on for second weekend in June if weather permits.

Nothing special about this ride especially with all the hardwoods being clear cut in so many areas.
Dirt roads and pavement in the country.
Targets along the way are riding on the Old Federal Road (http://www.encyclopediaofalabama.org....jsp?id=h-2999)
Community of Burnt Corn, maybe the train tunnel, stop at the state lake, see progress at the Haynes Island Ferry, Stop at Clairborn Lock and Dam facility, maybe the caves if the gate is open.

Bike choices? Can be done entirely on a Gold Wing.
Jeff done it on his last trip but he's a special rider.

More as the date gets closer.

Hope to have pictures and comments on the Smokey Mountain trip Morris R. lead by Tuesday night.

This past weekend in the mountains

Our Chief aka as Kevin did a WONDERFUL job cooking for all of us Floribama Riders shin dig that we had in Suches, GA Saturday night. Eventhough his help BAILED on him, he still managed to feed all of us with the best food you will ever have in the mountains!!

https://picasaweb.google.com/1072124...FBRSpringRally

Doug and I rode street bikes this past weekend with my friends/riders I haven't seen in a looong time, too long! Friday, was a few hundred mile ride in North Carolina lead by an 80 year old that will leave you in the dust on street and dirt! I hope to ride like that when I grow up, lol. Plus I caught up with a couple of fast girls that I haven't seen in a long time too. Saturday we took it a little easier and road locally in north georgia. Went to three sisters winery... I am not a wine drinker, but YUM YUM! We managed to miss the rain, so still good riding for us on Saturday. Then the shin dig put the icing on the cake!

It always has amazed me how it can be foggy and crappy looking in one place and sunny and beautiful just down the road in the mountains. Finally for ONCE riding in the mountains, I didnt have to endure pouring rain while riding!

AND ALL YOU SUCKERS THAT BAILED OUT....... WHAT WERE YOU THINKING??? time is priceless! good times are limited! And to get good company there all at one time is down in the books without you!
