Sunday Morning Ride

Well it was just me and Dirty at 1000 this morning...still had a great ride. Thanks to Dirty for showing me the trails...he handles that 690 quite nicely. Two "relatively" cool days in a row, somebody must have some divine contacts, about 85, overcast, and a light breeze when we finished around 1:30.

4th of July Ride???

Anybody interested in riding Thursday, the 4th of July?

Somebody post a time and place and I'll be there.

Meeting locations I have never been are Speck Pond, Broxson Landing, and the Hutton Unit but I would be willing to meet anywhere a group wants to ride. If we ride early, you could get home, clean up, take a nap (at least my plan) and be ready to BBQ and shoot fireworks with the wife and kids.

National Weather Service says 60% chance for rain on Thursday, is that synonymous for good riding weather?

Welcome Back ALL

Kinda scary not have ADV up and running

At one time I started to collect emails so we would have a backup if ADV goes away for whatever reason. I failed to complete that task.

I will try and collect those names and emails in the future weeks.

Just to report on the past weekend - another great weekend of riding in NOT TO HOT weather. Overcast sky and early morning cooler temps were a blessing this time of year.

I could be talked into an early morning ride if there is any interest. Maybe meet at Hutton unit so its a bit closer for you Pcola guys and gals...

Vic, before there was a "Pensacola Area Riders" site on Adventure Rider, a bunch of us used Yahoo Groups.
It sorta works like the Adventure Rider site only you have the added advantage of sharing files/photos/data base/ that we stored in easy to locate sections on that site.

Here is the site:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/...guid=169100015

Right now, the site is private and can only be accessed by invitation. If its agreeable, I could make it public and anyone can join without invitation.

Of course, we're all use to Adventure rider and prefer to use it.
Just throwing this out there in case Adventure Rider croaks for an extended time, then we could still keep in contact through another easy way.

Great idea. We had a similar site for TEAM MOSSY HEAD about 5 years ago.

We could all post up and use as backup HOEWEVER that would mean yet another site I would have to check every three seconds for activity

Thanks for the offer.

PAR will always be the premier site for those who really want to RIDE!!!

trying that now...

BTW - do you have your Montana on a power mount? My charged batteries were down after about 4 hours with full backlight...So far I really like it. Moved over my TOPOs and all is well there.

GPS mounting info

Several guys have asked about the Montana and the mounts... RAM mounts are you answer. LOTS of options.

Here is my setup.

The first thing you need is a ball mount. Here is the best one since it saves handlebar space.

Here is another type. Bar mount.

Then you will need one of these… Small first then larger (for mirror)

You will also need backing for whatever mount you get… this is the diamond for the regular Non powered mount.

Final mounting for Montana – non powered set up.

My cockpit…

Hope this helps…

Vic, I use the same set-up as you on the DRZ and set the backlight for 2 minutes to save battery.
If I ever glance at it and its blank, a simple touch with a finger lights it up for another two minutes so I can get info.

NOW for the VStrom, Diann bought me this power mount for the Montana.

GPS stays awake all the time.
It's a hardware install and don't feel like moving it back and forth between the two bikes since the lithium battery life seems to approach 12 hours with the present way of use.

The stock battery last almost 8 and MUST be shimmed with tape or something for rough riding or else I notice it turning itself on and off hitting ruts ect.

I've been running my 60csx hardwired on my KTM and Vstrom. The batteries would lose connection and shut the unit down on bumpy trails.
