Saturday's ride

Would have responded sooner, but computer took a dump.
This is KLR Guy (AKA Don).
I figured out as soon as I pull off the road at your starting point that I was not ready for a ride with you folks.
Wrong bike, wrong gear, and absolutely no experience.
I was hoping to be able to just trail along behind you for a little while, but realized right after the first turn off the clay road, that that would not be possible when you all were no where in sight.
When I came to the water, it confirmed what I knew before starting out.
Glad you had a good ride.
Good to meet you all, although like mine, most your names are left out in BW where you told them to me.

Glad you made it!

You gotta start somewhere.

Hope you can make it out to the Turkey Trot this weekend. We have several fellas there who you would enjoy riding with. They promised a great street only ride. At least come out and visit and grab some food.

Welcome to PAR.

Don,
Don't let the first ride get you down. The first time I rode w/ Vic and the guys offroad, I spent a lot of time playing catch up too. I'm not even in the same universe w/ some of those guys. Hang in there and shoot me a PM and let me know when you can ride. I"ve got some local guys in my neighborhood that want an introduction to BW at a sightseeing pace. One is on an XRL650, the other is on a KLR650 and our ages add up to 159........

This is a great bunch of guys and you'll find your group before long. Vic is right about trying to make it to the Trot. Go meet the other inmates. There are plenty of us who ride an easier pace and have yet to learn all the turns and twists BW has to offer.

Oh, and btw, Vic is not really human. He's a like a Ninja Turtle SuperHero....

Ride safe,

Frank

BW was awesome!

Thanks to everyone on Saturday for a great ride, it was a blast! It was good meeting you guys. I definitely want to go this weekend but like OrangeGarret said, I need some better tires. Before I go out and buy some tires, I was wondering if there's anyone who has some used tires that they want to sell or get rid off. I know there are some people that are serious into racing their bikes and change their tires way before they are even half way worn (I had friends like that and thanks to them, I didn't need to buy tires for many years when I lived in Puerto Rico). Let me know 18" rear, 21" front. I live in Escambia County.
Thanks again!

These were some of the guys that gave me their almost new tires back in PR Hehehe:

Thanks again!

I change often and am about ready to change again but not before the Trot.

You are welcome to these when I get done.

Maybe someone else has a set.

Saw the knee Doc today...based on his examination, I believe he suspects torn cartilage. MRI in the near future and then a return visit with the Doc to discuss the findings/options.

You guys have fun at the TT and I'll be back as soon as I can.

Speed Racer 56...that is what the SR stands for, at least in my dreams.

Turkey Trot

Would love to go to the Turkey Trot but unfortunately I'll be at work. I work 7 on, 7 off.
I've ridden street (still do on the KLR) on an SV650 and really enjoyed it. Always wanted a dual sport to be able to see what's up those trails and dirt roads I passed so often. Also the ergonomics of the KLR are much more comfortable. Never been or want to be a fast rider, thus the KLR.
I'm sure not going to give up on off road though and I'm sure I'll meet up with you folks at a latter date.

Hey Walliot, Garrett here. May have good set of tires for you, will let you know tomorrow afternoon. Just sold DRZ and unloaded the original Death Wings and a set of Dunlop MX-31's, oh well. Also, you are welcome to use the loading ramps we discussed. I'll be in P'cola a couple days this week, let me know, I can meet you somewhere, hopefully with ramps AND tires...

Sorry to hear bout the potential bad news but at least you'll know whats wrong , what to do about it and get started in wright direction, finally. This comes from a guy who's been putting off shoulder surgery for two months now and is trying to make it to late spring before doing something about it. Hell Tom, why don't you take my advise? It's hardly ever been used...

Weekend ride

Been busy lately but couldn't ignore the beautiful weather any longer. Met P Dub Saturday morning north of Defuniak, headed toward Euafala and picked up the TETS route up to about Lafayette, ended up in Oxford for the night, made our way back Sunday on some terrific Alabama back roads, little over 600 miles of smiles on the weekend.
