Has anyone tried these Leatt Cooling shirts? Several Dakar riders are wearing these and it's been very hot this year. Soak in cool water for a couple of minutes and cools for a couple of hours?

Coolling Shirt/Vest

Looks like it would work on the same principal as a Swamp Cooler...where evaporative cooling is the method by which it works. Around here the humidity is so high in the summer that you want get much evaporation...therefore not much cooling. I have one that is not a Leatt and as described above, if you are moving and the humidity isn't too high it works as long as it is wet...as it dries out it is just another layer that makes you sweat more. Hope I didn't burst your bubble but that is my humble opinion.

Almost. We used to make and sell "Cool Ties" years ago. I still have some of the filler material. I don't think the vests above are the same though as the stuff we used expands a whole bunch when soaked. But it works the same as far as cooling. We used about a teaspoon of the crystals per cool tie and once soaked the cool tie went from a limp fold-able cloth tube to a rigid or semi-rigid tube.

I have one still in the box, never used because it was a tad small for me. Not sure what size you need. I am lanky but somewhat barrel chested and claustrophobic so I plan on ordering the next size up if anyone is interested in ordering a large. If they like the medium better we could swap.
Let me know before you order so I can double check the size I have on hand.

I learned that: my mind is alot younger than my body- after seven hours of being wet, cold, hot, sweaty, wet, cold, tired, hot, fatigued, it's hard to just hold onto a steering wheel to drive home. There is "no such thing as mud in Florida" That when I continue to ride in a fatigued state, shit happens. That pretty much ALL injuries from 58 years of abuse WILL show up. That "serious" pain killers where used on the drive home. That my mind can replay certain thoughts like, "WTF was i thinking?" over and over and .... That people from Wales talk funny.

But hey, other than that, I had a great time and enjoyed hanging with Hatch, Etingelefunts, Rotor, Dirtwoman, Morris and all the other FF's.

Oh Yeah! And I don't keep my right foot over the brake, I don't keep a finger on the controls at ALL times, I look just beyond my front wheel, I don't have my elbows out far enough when standing and leaning toward the bars in a "press-up" position. (push-up if you aint from Wales) I sit down 90% of the time and should stand 90% of the time. I can't "rail a log" in a standing position worth a shit. (Hatch can) (little bastard) All in all, I got my monies worth and then some.

AHHH if a girl can do it.... anyone can, right?

My body is SORE all over from dirtwise school, it felt like dirt bike BOOT camp. Every time I tried to pull over and hide for a few to catch my breath, the instructor would point at me and say do it again,,, don't stop. I did learn ALOT though. It was more exhausting to think about what I was learning and put it into use than the actual exercise itself. When I did do all the correct actions, the outcome was perfect! Repeating it over though wasn't so easy. That is ok, practice makes perrfect. I cannot count the times I fell off and picked up the bike in the mud or the SLOP, rain, wind and whatever else. But I was glad to see I wasn't the only one falling.. I think almost everyone went down at least once.

The instructor was amusing yet knew his stuff. It was great to see all the familiar faces. I wonder how the instructor did in his race at Perry Mountain? since Doug pushed the tree over on the instructor's foot when jumping over the tree.....men...hahaha.

Did anyone happen to get pictures?

[QUOTE=Hatch;23200452]That last part sounds somewhat suggestive..

you'll have an infinitely easier time dealing with ruts.. unlike morris

the ones that get the most from the classes are the ones who really push themselves outta their comfort zone - and by push I mean completely throw out all reservations..

The pressups confused me too. at least he wasn't speakin pikey

btw, ol JT is a fast mofo
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Poor Morris, I wish I could deal with that much shit and NOT react ugly to it.

If JT had been speakin Pikey I wouldn't have known just how much I suck.

Yeah, he's for sure a fast mofo, I think he'd give Gimmee a run for his money.

Yeah, I'm thinkin that if there was even one person that didn't go down at least once, well, here's a multiple choice of answers:

(a) They shouldn't have been in a riding school. (even JT went down once)

(b) They should have been the instructor.

(c) They have a tiny problem telling the truth.

(d) Quote from Senior Hatch--"the ones who really push themselves outta their comfort zone - and by push I mean completely throw out all reservations.."

(e) Yeah yeah, OK, so I did tip over once I think.

God, I hope nobody got pictures.........

I don't always ride street bikes, but when I do I prefer VStroms

I'd like to go as long as you're not planning a sunrise departure.
