Yr humble opinion duly noted, and seconded.

I've been all over this great country, and I've yet to find roads better suited to good times on 2 wheels than what you find between TWO and DG. The twisties in SoCal (e.g., Angeles Crest Hwy & the like) may offer better scenery, but you just can't beat running up Blood Mountain from Turner's Corner...or Wolfpen Gap...or the Cherohala Skwy...or Richard Russell...or Hellbender...

Haven't seen you in a while, Dick--you gonna make it to PreFest?

Several of us have been talking and would like to plan that ride again only with a little more organization. The idea would be to leave from Brox again and go South to Powerline and then EAST on 255 to the Timberlake Pond riding area then up to either Niceville or Crestview for lunch stop (Hooters in Crestvew might be a good place and we could call ahead and warn them) then the ride back would be West on 211 hitting the river landings, helos and back to parking area.

It would be a long ride but is not meant to be a fast ride. Route would be fun rather than challenging. Weather (rain) may change Southern route but alternates would be ready. We should consider a support truck and way to deal with problems so rest of ride can continue.

I will be happy to make route chart of run so all we can go in groups if necessary. There are plenty of places where alternate routes can allow all to ride.

Below is General route. (very crude route)

We could have different riders leading certain sections.
Arrange our own cookout/lunch break at lake with support truck.
Other ideas???

What does everyone think.
It would be tough to say no to that!

Turky Trot Date

Lets start by picking date. Friday works for many but Saturday my accomidate more... even do it both days with two smaller groups. But the idea is that many have a four day weekend so its a good time to Ride and still have time with Family (or away from in some cases)...

So Friday or Saturday After Thanksgiving?

I vote Friday!

Ricks Ride Report - Day Three Hillbilly Hospitality

NC Hillbilly / Mark met us at our hotel in Franklin at 9am to show us around a little....

Man oh man, did he show us around!!!

We started immediately towards the Dragon with a few stops along he way. First was the Iron Horse Motorcycle Resort then Fontana Dam. The twisties here are unbelievable!

Next we stopped at Deals Gap for the obligatory tee shirt and such. Funny, you round a corner and there are three hundred riders sitting in the parking lot on everything from Harleys to crotch rockets.

We then rode to Tellico Plains where we ate a fantastic lunch and visited adver Mini Mikes/ Mike's motorcycle shop. He maintains the single track in the forest there (sound familiar Vic),,,and he has anything a DSer would need.

From there we picked up the Cherahola Skyway and I'd have to say that was one of the most spectacular roads I have ever seen, let alone ridden on.

By about that time Eddie and I were getting tired and asked Mark to start us back towards Franklin, the hotel and a cold beer. He told us we still had about 1.5 hours of riding ahead so we got refocused and headed back east.

Mark took us to his house on a beautiful mountain lake. We sat on his deck overlooking paradise and had some lemonade. After a bit we said goodbyes and started for he last 30 miles of our day. My odo shows that we rode 284 miles and almost all of it was twisty!!!

I have to give a shout out to NC Hillbilly / Mark for showing us true North Carolinian hospitality. He has invited us back for their next dual sport rally and we should get a group together to return here soon.

Today we are setting out for Blood Mountain, TWO, Rchard Russell Pkwy and points west. Ye haaa!
