Here's a couple of shots of my project near completion. Countless hours and many emails to and from a now very good friend and former British Sidecarcross Champion Johnny Wolverson in England. It was a long road to come up with the proper information. I struck it rich when Johnny took me under his wing for the build. Another helpful hand came from Al Wenzel here in the States. Who is very active in the Sidecar Motocross.
I started with a 2000 LC4 road legal bike. Therefore eliminating inspections and potential problems licensing a "one off " sidecar. My intentions are to ride this in the woods on forest roads. Maybe we'll see you out there !!

Note: Pictures mysteriously disappeared and having difficulty reposting...if you can help send me a personal message.

Here's a video of first test ride.

KTM Sidecar

Hey Exhaust Nut, I know it's hard to tell exactly what model. I should have been more clear in the past post. It is a 2000 640E with a 625 SXC fuel tank and seat. The 18L tank was in the way of the steeringhead rail. There may be a way to do something with the bigger tank. This was in my garage from my 04 SXC. Only 9L but I figured being a beginner at the sidecars I would be fine with a 40-50 mile range. So I just used it I quickly learned how physical driving or passengering a sidecar setup like this can be.

WOW, that's a super clean setup. VERY well done!

Working with Johnny was definately the right thing to do. I think he gets as much enjoyment out of helping as you do building. It might be nice to also post something on SidecarCross.com showing off your work and thanking Johnny for his help.

You've got pleny of room for a gas can and other adventure goodies in front of the passenger's toes! I fit 12 gallons of gas, a gallon of water, the exhaust, and a radiator there.

Did you stiffen the rear spring? Did you do anything to change the front end trail?

Good luck finding someone who can hang on for any length of time.

Trail-Leading link

Hey Scott, Thanks for the kind words, Yes. Johnny has suggested I post on Sidecarcross Worldwide. I was just telling him I was meaning to ask you where exactly to post the photos.
In regards to the trail and frontend setup. The trail is stock. We figured just get it out there and ride it for now. The 50mm forks are very stout. I know the trail is not ideal. The rear is stock also with the second stiffist spring KTM offers. With a lot of preload on the spring. It all seems to be working well. Although I am a total beginner so what do I know ?? I will be building a leading link setup in the near future. Then another quest for information will get underway.

Maybe the "Technical, Tips, Tricks" forum. That's supposed to be about building and repairing things. Your bike looks so good, it's amazing it's a home built. So it definately deserves some exposure. Especially before you go and get it all dirty!

That's pretty cool! I'd love to see it up close-where are you located? I am 60 miles East of Portland, Oregon.

A what ?

Hmm, what's a BRP ? I can come up with several acronims. But I should
be polite.

The Hack has definately forced me to start over in the motorcycle world.

KTM Hack

The KTM Hack is one of the best first builds i have ever seen. A real credit to your engineering skills and the support of Johnny Wolvo. Ive suggested to John that you have a go at some links for it, im sure they would be good.
