Cow on Saturday

If anybody is interested, a couple of us will be at Cow, Saturday at 8am.
Ride early before it gets too hot. Not a big bike friendly ride, single
and double track with some jeep trails.

Let me know.

Anybody out there?

So, let's resurrect this thread. It's winter, I know, but let's check in and set up some dustless rides. Cory, what's your status? I work most weekends so hooking up can be difficult. Let's get out there. Post Thanksgiving rides used to be a tradition here. Maybe New Years?

Holy shit! When did that happen? I know that I've been out of the loop, but I didn't think I was that far out.

Hey Guys,

I was thinking of doing a DS ride next Saturday or Sunday (12/1 or 12/2).
Th good old loop we always do. Geysers, Old toll Road and over Cow.

That is if Cow is open, it just closed. Anybody up for that?

Thanks for jumping in Dean. I knew we could count on you. But... I work weekends (cry). Shocked to hear about Cory. Hope they are doing well.

That sounds like a fun ride but too far for me this time of year.

One of my favorite loops from the South Bay area is up past Lake Berryessa. I’ll take Old Toll or 175 into Hopland. I like them both for different reasons.

I have been meaning to try the road through Cow Mountain. I am on a R1200GS without knobies.

Should I take Scotts Creek west of Lakeport to Tucker’s and Blue Dadge or Trail 17? Or?

Mudcat,

Scotts will get you to east side of Cow and on to the main fire road. (Mendo Lake Road)
That's probably ok to do without knobbies. Sometimes early in the year the dust
turns to cake frosting mud after the rain.
However, I was up there two weeks ago and it was like a supermoto track.

As for trail 17, the section that runs between trail 15 and trail 24 is fine on a
big bike. Right now though I wouldn't do it without knobbies, too slippery.
And don't do the section of trail 17 between trail 24 and Mendo Lake Road
on a 1200 unless your a real good rider and want to trash your bike.

For big bikes trail 13, 15, and 20 work pretty well and are fun. Without knobbies
or at least aggressive DS tires wait until those trails dry out a little.

Hope that helps.

Also,

I'll probably start posting about the 3rd annual Mendo NF rally in
January or February.

Turn and face the changes cha cha strange changes

Yes Fellas we have moved to Gardnerville NV. Without going into personal details life threw me/us a curve ball. We will miss Northern California and all the friends we have made over the years. We will be back now and again as we have family still there.

If you are ever up our way Tahoe/Reno area drop me a line. We have two spare rooms and lots of free trails just down the block

Ride safe!
