Saturday Cow Mtn?
I am going again.
who wants to meet and ride? I should be at the oakwood stageing area by 0700. I ride out trail 24>17>23 then catch others to make a nice big loop.

New V-strom owner needs help...

Key on - No power to anything?

My good friend Scott recently passed away after a long and valiant fight with Prostate Cancer and has gifted me his immaculate 2008 Suzuki DL650. I rode her 20 miles to my home in Windsor Saturday and on Monday went to start her up and got no power to anything when key was turned to the On position.

Assumed the battery was bad as my friend had been unable to ride for some time due to his illness so drove to Interstate and bought a brand new battery. Charged bat overnight on my Ctek Multi 4.3 charger and just got through hooking new bat up to find no power once again . Have checked main 30amp fuse for continuity and it's good.

Anyone live in the area and is intimately familiar with the DL650 that might be willing to stop by and take a look? I'm in no big hurry as I haven't gotten Ins yet so wont be riding her for a little while.

Doh!

Ever heard that saying, "Blind in one eye, can't see out the other"?

The main Negative Ground wire had slipped over underneath the R/S plastic body side panel where I didn't notice it .

Tuesday, Nov 11, Veterans Day, street ride

I'm possibly plotting out a day ride for Tuesday, Nov 11 (Veterans Day).

It would be all day. Departing from Santa Rosa area in the morning, and be home late afternoon/early eve. Street ride.

Possibly:
101 up to Ukiah
Orr Springs Rd to Ft Bragg
Food / Break
Hwy 20 E
Checking out camping facilities in Jackson Demonstration Forest
Willits / Ridgewood Rd
Bear Canyon Rd
Tomki Rd
Redwood Valley
Hwy 101 S
OR IF WE HAVE TIME
Hwy 253 West > Mtn View Rd > Hwy 1
Occidental

Again, still all up in the air. Depends on weather

I'd be on my DR800, Capt. Huggie on a 12GS

If anyone chimes in, I can update as time goes along. Route is NOT set in stone. But, I dont expect it to be dirt ride.

Huggie is also looking for a local rider he can pair up with. He's a retired fire Capt, and enjoys week-day rides locally. and camp trips wherever. Nothing crazy. Just simple helmet time.

That looks like a great route. Unfortunately I've got a meeting that morning. If it gets moved (which happens on occasion) I'm in.

R12GSA now. Some weekdays available- though I tend to be pretty busy.

Check out Old Toll Rd between 101 and Clear Lake, just south of 175.

Eek Orr springs road

I went out this morning to explore Orr springs rd. out to highway 1. Your right Gillifunk, the road is awesome. The only issue I had was the wet wood on one of the bridges and the rear tire tried to pass the front. Other than that the day could not have been better. My mental health day was a success.

a good ride but be VERY careful, the locals drive FAST, lots of blind curves, have had a few close calls/near headons on that road

From east to west its a bumpy and slow speed road. Making your way into the forest the road (right now) is wet and a bit mossy. Once you get to the forest the road is 1.25 lanes and gets very scenic and tight and great for a dual sport. As you hit the bottom of the valley you reach a forest preserve of old growth and a parking area for the park that offers a few parking spots for cars, pick-nick table and restroom. There is also nice hiking trail that looks great.

along the valley floor the road slowly gets better as you move west, eventually turning to a decent then nice two lane road and slowly out of the valley over ridge into Ft. Bragg.

Right now the trees are turning color and the road is still a bit damp. Get up there, check it out. If you go, take your woman with you, go up Hwy 1, and head east to the park. Do the hike, take a lunch and have a nice relaxing time. If your're 2 up, don't continue east, the road is really to bumpy with a passenger.

Im picking up a new to me Ural Gear up next weekend. After thanksgiving weekend I'll be heading up there again, get the hike in and a few pics. I'll post ride info up here, and let ya'll know.
