Our first casualty of the day!
Brant rode like a pro on that big GSA! Hats off to you Brant. The bushes tore off one of his lights!
You had to hug one side of the rut in the bushes at low speed then gas it for the wheelie across the rut. This is Brant fixing the light with zip ties.

Tree in the trail.
I had attempted this trail twice before. Twice I was turned around, once by snow once by fallen trees.
We got almost to the top of the trail after a good hour+ riding hard and ran into this tree across the trail. We thought oh no! I dont want, I cant go back down that trail. Others had gone before and started a trail around the tree.

The goat trail
We were turned around at this point and were looking for a trail on the map but couldnt find it. The GPS was telling us it was a ways off. So we headed toward the trail we wanted on the GPS on this goat trail. I have to hand it to Brant he went up the trail great. I started down the other side and stoped at a cliff!
I looked back to see if the others were coming and they had stoped at the top. It was a good thing. I would have hated to have all three bikes down on that cliff turning around.

Hey Cory you OK!?
In the above photo you can hardly make out Tony and Brant standing at the top. Here is a close up of them from the cliff I was on. I managed to turn the TA around and ride back up. They told me when I got to the top it looks like it gets steep and a cliff? I said Yep and I almost rode off it!

Good man, you took that shot like a champ!

I just picked up my GS from Mikes tonight and its running better than ever and the new throttle cables and throttle assembly is way nice like grease lightning, BUT my final drive bearing is going out. I am going to ride it until I can find a 1100 GS final drive with lower gears to swap it with. OR if it blows up ill just have Mike rebuild it. Gilla we know you ride its just its never worked out. I give a yell out when Im free for another rip in the forest. I have some training next couple of weeks thats going to cramp my style. I think you and Sandplow, Vrago and some of the other fellas are going down to the Bishop ride that should be fun but im in training. Have a good time, Ill keep you posted.

Hey Tony forgetabout it!
Quote:
Any one that can ride that stuff yesterday is a good rider. We all get tired and make mistakes. I was really impressed with that Transalp. Not every bike you can get on for the first time and go ride trails like that. Next time Im going to do it on the GSA just cause Brant did and I cant just let that go unchallenged. I will drop mine for sure but I will get that big pig up that trail if it kills me. Next time lets take some more people to help with picking up my bike and calling 911 when I stroke out!

Final drive options
Quote:
Rebuild curent final drive bearing OR Buy another final drive then have a spare on hand for the next failure. I want a 1100 GS final drive. It has lower gears than both 1150 GS and GSA There is the R850 final drive that has SUPER low gears but I think that would be too low. So Im looking for a 1100 final drive put that one in then rebuild the one that is going out for a spare.

Adventure it was!!
Hey all,
Thanks for the opportunity to play. It was one, if not the most challenging trails for me on the Pig. I have to give thanks to Cory and Tony for kind words of praise for accomplishing the days adventure. I still can't believe I didn't stack all day riding trails like we did. I had a great day Lookin' forward to the next one. Brandt |
