Cow Mtn. ride Wed. morning?

Water truck is in the shop until late p.m., so no deliveries until after 5. The Husky has so very few miles, so I'm riding, 8:30 or so till around noon. Call or PM. 272-5836, or I'll be at the So. end between 8-8:30.

9/19-9/23 Day Trip rides

Hello all. I'll be visiting my girlfriend in Suisun City for a week in September and was looking for suggestions/riding partners for some M-F day rides while my girlfriend is at work. I was thinking of heading over to Point Reyes Lighthouse one day and checking out Prarie City SVRA another day. I'd like to do some dirt, but I won't have knobbies or a real skid plate yet, so I can't do any narly stuff yet. Any suggestions/takers? Cheers,
Sam

I can't ride with you but I can help with riding suggestions. What will you be riding? Prairie City is a lot of rocks, but there are plenty of ways to avoid the really nasty stuff. You may consider avoiding the tailings area that is bounded by the entry roads.

I'll be riding my G650 X-country with the stock Metzler Tourances and plastic bash plate being my biggest limitations in the dirt. A nice country drive through some twisties would be fun as well. What's your favorite 3 - 5 hr loop? Thanks,
Sam

Like I said above, Suisun Valley Road (also Gordon Valley Road is a good one) to 121 to 128 to Spanish Flat to Knoxville-Berryessa Road, which then turns into Morgan Valley Road. You can turn east onto Rayhouse/Reiff Road (Yolo County Road 40) that heads down to Highway 16, but the upper section may freak you out due to the rocks. It really isn't that bad and the hardest parts are downhill going east. From there you can high-tail it back via Highway 16 and various county roads to Winters then Pleasants Valley Road back to Lagoon Valley (between Fairfield and Vacaville). Or, take Sand Creek Road (Yolo County Road 41) over the hills to Arbuckle. From there, county roads back to Winters....

Or you can continue on Morgan Valley Road into Lower Lake. Depending on time, take Highway 29 south to Middletown and then take Butts Canon/Pope Valley Road back towards Lake Berryessa via Pope Valley. I highly recommend taking Lower Chiles Valley Road if you're returning to Highway 128. The road to Angwin is quite fun, too. The Silverado Trail in Napa isn't bad, and more than worth it if you go south to Highway 121 east. The section from Napa to Suisun Valley Road is a dream if you get a clear run.

The run to Sac can be boring as hell. To liven it up, take Highway 12 east out of Suisun. Then take Branscomb, Creed, 113, Hastings Island, Salem, Brown, Robben, Binghamton, Sikes, Delhi, Levee (Co. 104) to Mace Blvd. in Davis. After that, it's kind of just slab to get to Prairie City. You can return via White Rock, Grant Line, Kammerer, Bruceville, Twin Cities, Co. Rd 113 into Walnut Grove. Cross the river to Highway 160 to Ryde. Take 220 west to the Howard Landing Ferry (free). After the ferry, immediately turn left and ride the levee to the Ryer Island Ferry (also free) into Rio Vista. Highway 12 to "home" from there.
