I enjoyed the heck out of riding the itty bitty bike on this trip, it did great. It does have it's limitations on the super slab but I knew that going in. On the off pavement parts it was fun and easy to ride, it was nice not feeling overwhelmed by a bigger heavier bike. It's to bad you weren't able to come with us on the ride but I'm sure I'll get the chance to ride with you some time in the future.

So, who was riding the Transalp and how did it do on the trip? That's the same bike I have and what I'd be riding if I make it next year.
I'd want to put progressive springs and emulators in my forks, have a new rear shock fitted, and some knobbier tires 1st though I think. Here's my "dirtbike" ![]() ![]()

This mission was built in the mid 1600's. (Correct me if I am wrong, guys.) It's 60 miles from the Pacific and 60 miles from the Sea of Cortez, and there are springs there, so this was an important place for the indians for thousands (?) of years. And then the missionaries show up in the 1600's to "save" them...

And then a bunch of guys (and gals) who REALLY need saving show up...
(we don't claim the guy in the hat. Ask Pat what he thinks of that guy...)

No problem, Al. I'm just glad it was what it was, and not much worse.

This is Ernando, the 17 year old who lives and caretakes the mission with his family and his father, who is the Father. He spoke great english and was quite a character - he gave us a tour and history lesson. He plays guitar and sings - and even sang a bit for us inside the church (very cool sound). He's building his own website to be launched soon. And in the meantime he is chiseling stone by hand in the restoration work with the mission. A very cool kid! He clearly had our attention!
