B.A.R.F. - Baja Asylum Run [Final]
is in the bag.
B aja A sylum R un F inal The usual and some new suspects were along this year: Jonz (obviously home) Gaspipe (driving east as I type) He who shall not be named here (headed east with Gaspipe) LasVegasRider (last one still in Baja) Dogwater (driving north back to British Columbia) Ibarra (probably back home in Valle de Bravo) edit - add Killer who I forgot - doh!!! BAR I, II, and III have come and gone so this year was labeled as the BARF. We joked during the planning stages that once we settled on a schedule and completed the trip, the US State Department could ship us to the Middle East to broker a peace agreement. Pretty damn complicated, too complicated when Baja is supposed to provide the temporary asylum from such complications. So maybe it will be the last and final BAR.This year, I carried a Spot Messenger and ran it in tracking mode. The tracking points can be uploaded into Google Earth. The images created are shown below to give you an idea of our route. Any gaps are from me forgetting to "push the button" at the start of the day. & ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Stand by for the rest of the report as the rest of the attendees arrive home and download photos. The trip report will include all the usual debauchery and buffonery typical on all Baja trips. And one special tale will involve a burning bike 100 miles from anywhere along with perhaps the best in-the-field Mex-i-ca-nada repair ever.

It was a very good trip. ![]() Goat Stuntaz Represent! ![]()

Re-entry after Baja
While waiting for my fellow travelers to recover from their slogs home, I feel the need to elaborate on a phenomenon of Baja travel.
That is the re entry into "normal" life. This morning, I was running around town doing errands with my dearly beloved wife behind the wheel. We walked around a street fair grabbing a couple of things, and made a few other stops during the trip. When I left, my wife was a normal average middle class American - occasionally stressed but usually quite reasonable. On my return, she's an impatient, tailgating, lane-changing, stop-n-go, get out of my way, we-need-to-be-there-NOW!!!, type of person. I'm finding the decompression of soul while headed south infinitely easier to deal with than the northbound compression that is occurring. I need Baja.

Back to "Reality"
Made it back up to Canada without incident, just slept off the Red Bulls and goat tacos. I'll start uploading pictures in awhile, I have some important things to take care of... I'm playing Lego with my kids.
