950SE Swing arm rubber

Picked up my new 950 SE on Thursday. Rode it home the long way and loved every second of it. Man those Akras sound good. Decided to ride it out to my parents place on Saturday to try it around the farm. Had some fun but couldn't do too much with the dual purpose tyres fitted.
After lunch i hop on it to go down town and buy some milk. Riding home I'm sitting on about 80k's when all of a sudden the back wheel locks solid and stalls the engine and i skid to a grinding halt.
The rear bolt on the rubber that sits on top of the swing arm to provide protection from the chain had obviously come out, and the chain had picked it up and done its best to stuff it into any spare space around the front sprocket thus bending everything it the vicinity, partially disengaging the chain from the front sprocket, and also bending the clutch slave cylinder.
Thankfully i wasn't far from home and we have a bike trailer. I was going to pull it apart myself and get it going but decided to leave it to the KTM guys so they could see exactly what had happened.
Pretty pissed off!!
I was lovin every minute on that thing. All 300k's of it.
Maybe something to check on your new 950 SE?

You should always loctite every bolt you can see when you get a new bike.
BTW, that bolt holding the chain gaurd is a known issue.

Pissed Embarrassed dealer

I picked up my SE on Thursday. On the dealer check list, I received, was written 'LOCTITE SCREWS' on swingarm protector guide. Your dealer messed up, big time.

This is a well known issue. There have been several reports of it here as well as a recall on (I think) the 990 due to this.

Since the dealer goofed, I would not 100% trust them as you are. One previous report where this happened, there was damage to the swingarm as a result. Make sure you have no equivalent damage.

And possibly damage to the countershaft/bearings?

Hold their nuts over the fire on this one... they have screwed up badly.

Somebody else had this problem a few months back. When I checked mine the screws were loose. I locktited them and make them part of my "preflight."

I think that the recall was in Australia. There's a thread on this somewhere. Sounds like you're dealer screwed up.

Glad you're ok. This kind of failure could turn bad.

Thanks guys. Wish i had seen these posts before. But i only have myself to blame for this. So is warranty going to cover this or should i prepare for a shitfight? Does anyone have a copy of a the service bulliten or recall that was sent out in Australia?

Cheers

Warranty is for when things correctly assembled fail prematurely. This isn't a warranty issue, the people who assembled this bike potentially put your life at risk. If there is a shitfight I'd be amazed. Just make sure all damage is taken care of, don't accept them just installing a new slider if other items are damaged.

If it jammed at 80 MPH you can about bet the trans output shaft is fucked. How bad did it flat spot the rear tire?

It was at about 80k's that it happened not miles per hour. Haven't looked at the rear yet as i can't turn the whell anyway. I'll lift it up and have a look.
I'm hoping they will drive down (1.5 hour trip) and pick it up and leave me a loan bike. Is that wishful thinking?

Just went out and had another look at it. The front sprocket has taken a few shavings off the swing arm at the pivot. Therefore obviously the trans output shaft is cactus. Nice big flat spot on the tyre. Would definitely be noticable on the road. Still can't believe i only got to do 300k's on it before breaking it!!!
