The people here are very helpful. So if you get into trouble just flag someone down they will help. On the mobile but if you can search under my post you can see my ride report of a very similar trip.
Ok I'll check out your ride report. Doesn't it get dark there pretty early? It's almost 8pm here and the sun is still out? Thanks DanTheMan07!

Cool! That will be the plan then! Tonight we will map out the next couple of pit stops. Going to check out Saboteur's suggestion to Sanchez Mira or Claveria.

Bontoc - Tabuk route is shorter but more challenging. It is also prone to landslides and it is dirt roads on most part plus the fact that there are no safety barriers on the side of the roads. It's really not advisable during rainy seasons. The views are breathtaking on that route but it's scary and there are no petrol stations along the way. There are a few stores though that sells gasoline placed on soda bottles.

Welcome to the Philippine Adventure Rides thread dunesnstars! I am glad you found you way here.

I am sorry for not being around when greatly needed. Been busy here and there. In fact during rackemcrackem's last visit in March, we only had stolen times where we saw each other for some brown bottles. But eventhough I wasn't around, he was always welcome in my house to drink my beer and taking naps in my couch.

I bumped iSAW's thread, you might want to read them. In case you don't find it, belwos the link to the threads:

Do you know what type of support nice bikes will provide should the bike break down? My husband can fix just about anything mechanically related but we decided that we are going to leave his tool box behind.

Do they offer insurance, etc? And if so, is it worth purchasing?

dunesstars>>

You why rackemcrackem is active in this thread??? He had a good teacher !

Rolando, the German owner of nicebikes.com, supports their clients/customers. Whenever something happens, always inform them by phone call, then if it can be fixed locally problem solved, but if it is a major problem like a conked out rectifier, CDI, stator, then he will arrange things to get the bike fixed as he has many spares from those nuts and bolt to a whole engine of those transalps as well as other bikes.

Another tip: To avoid hassle, please confirm your reservations for those Transalps, or else you might end up using the Dominators.

No insurnace offered in the Philippines. If you want one, get them there. My mate RBS_Cairns usually get his International covered insurance at Australia before going here.

BTW, I talked to Dalan last night, your still the perfect guy for that profile.... See you in 6 month bro.

Heads up Inmates: Magapit Bridge in Cagayan closed starting May 16 for repair

For those riding in the Philippines doing the Noth Loop...... http://www.pia.gov.ph/news/index.php...e=461336016291

DPWH: Magapit Bridge closed starting May 16 for repair

By Oliver T. Baccay
Wednesday 9th of May 2012
TweetFacebookYahooEmailShareThis

LALLO, Cagayan, May 9 (PIA) -- To start the rehabilitation of the famous Magapit Suspension Bridge in this town, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 2 announced that the bridge will be closed for six months beginning May 16.

The said bridge connects the province of Cagayan to northern Apayao province and the southern Cagayan Valley.

The DPWH has designed a temporary road network with ferry boats and docking facilities located adjacent to the bridge, to transport the vehicles across the river during the six-month rehabilitation period.

Mayor Florante Pascual and Board Member (BM) Maria Olivia B. Pascual assured the public of the safety of the ferry boats after the inspection done during the dry-run of the use of the ferry boats.

Six light vehicles were able to fit in the ferry boat during the dry-run.

Pascual ordered the local police force and barangay officials of Lal-lo to help in the traffic management.

BM Pascual also requested the DPWH for the possibility of having another ferry boat to transport vehicles and passengers faster and more efficiently. She also asked for the patience and understanding of the public because in the end, the rehabilitation of the Magapit Bridge will benefit everyone.

Built in the 1970s, Magapit Bridge is considered as the first suspension bridge in Southeast Asia and is one of the tourist attractions in the region.

According to DPWH management, the approved budget for the project was P100 million, wherein P50 million came from the DPWH and the other half came from the Senate President, Honorable Juan C. Ponce Enrile. (OTB-PIA 2)

Your wish just came true!

And you will be:

- riding a Suzuki V-strom DL1000 to the event
- with a full BLUE face modular helmet
- a Joe Rocket Phoenix Mesh type jacket
- and a pair of safety knee with shin pads.
