Philippines Adventure Rides

Just saw the post of his daughter on his FB account I am so sad, its hard to miss another great Filipino rider and riding buddy of mine, first Wildmann and now Herc, more dramatically that he got killed on such a bad accident.

I am going to miss you Herc, you were a great friend always a careful rider. It did not help you at the end. Yes and as you wrote one day ago: RIDE THE WORLD!!! Yes Herc just another world! I will never forget you!!!

MANILA -- A motorcycle rider was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Barangay Ugong, Pasig City on Wednesday night.

The victim, 45-year-old Gino Martin Hercules Contreras II, was riding his motorcycle with plate number 6158 PU, when the accident happened along the southbound lane of the C5 flyover at around 11 p.m.

Police Officer 3 Edwin Cruz of Pasig's Traffic Management Office said Contreras fell off his motorcycle and hit the center island after jostling with another motorcycle.

Cruz said Contreras was still lying on the road when a speeding truck ran over him, breaking his body into pieces.

Authorities had a hard time identifying the victim.

Authorities are hoping a CCTV camera caught the accident so they can identify the plate number of the motorcycle and truck involved.-- Report from Zandro Ochona, dzMM

Very sad news to hear ...

I did not know Herc however, my condolences to his family.

I just returned from a 4 wk trip here in the US where Friends that I have in the Philippines (Batangas, Manila and Pangasinan) where following during my adventure. One of them read about this tragic event in the media and alerted me. I then see post on Advrider. From what I've read here through his posts and comments about him, he was a great person and true fan of the sport.

Godspeed.........> HERC!

I have not been on ADV rider for a few days and was shocked to see we have lost Herc . I had never meet with him personally but had corresponded with him and knew he was a good man. He was always helpful with advice. You will be missed by your family , friends and riding mates . Rest in Peace Bro.

For sure Herc will be missed, , condoleces to his family . . . . . . .

Herc was a huge force in organizing ADV-rides/riders, and supporting our rides; Although I haven't had the honor to meet/ride with Herc, I feel like a brother has been lost . . . . . .

Wow, like others here I had been looking forward to the day I would meet him . . . . .

Sad indeed.

Wow this is horrible news, always enjoyed following along on Hercs adventures and looked forward to riding with him next time I was in the Philippines.

"Takin' it easy, to live another day for my family" Reading his signature again really struck a emotional cord with me.
This just goes to show no matter how careful we are with riding or life in general you never know when your time is up.

Get out there and ride while you can. He will be missed by many.

Yes this is all so very sad. Herc and his wife have 5 young children. It will now be up to family and friends to teach the children what a great Father they had. I am sure as they grow they will enjoy the photos of his rides that he shared with us here.
