Binary Tour

It's a good thing we have global warming now, otherwise it would be REALLY cold.
Day 1 and I have been rained on, haiiled on, snowed on, and then rained on some more. It was a little weird having to follow a snow plow truck down 101 past Cosmopolis,Wa.
The first nights camp wa at Cape Disppointment state park where it snowed again.
this morning I had a window of no rain to load the bike but it wasn't long enough.
Thank you Gerbings and Aerostitch.
Pictures as soon as I figure out how with this Nokia 810.

Onwards to points South. Where ever that is.

beware of travel advice from dweebs

So I'm headed down 101 going through Nescowin, raining, snowing, hailing all day again, and the gas station attendant , big oafish looking guy with thick glasses, says the road south at Cascade Head got 3 1/2 inches of snow this morning. You should take the scenic bypass instead, it runs along the valley bottom and shouldn't have any snow.. The only thing missing was the sinister music.Off I go expecting a smooth ride . Well no, the dweeb forgot to that this road also climbed Cascade Head but is narro and unplowed and so steeply cambered that you cant turnaround. Gosh what fun I had.
A local saw me coming down the other side and said I thought that road was closed from the snow.Could have been.
If you go through Nescowin and stop at the Shell station, smack that FF upside the head for me.
The last hour of daylight and the sun came out just in time to enjoy some spectacular scenary along 101 into Florence, OR.

After three dys of rain, snow, hail-what's with all the hail? I hit the Cal border and blue skys abound. I took advantage of the tent space list and bummed a room from Stormdog. His wife and he laid out a great spead with a hot dinner, cold beer and a breakfast buffet for the send off. Thank you brother Stormdog and Shari.

You NorCal guys have some of the sweetest roads going. I was told to ride the Lost Coast out of Ferndale. The road is more patch than original pavement and was probably a game trail once, but some very fun riding and the views were amazing.

day (off) in the dirt

First off thank you brother rockngs for letting me park at your place last night. You have a great family. Today took Jumbo, the Gray Whale and me down to Phoenix only to discover that traffic and too many people was what this trip was not about. I am now sitting in the laundry room of a KOA in Black Canyon, AZ catching up on housekeeping. Tomorrow, over the mountain to Kirkand Junction and then a loop toward Sedona. Funny, when I left home 9 days ago, I thought I would have to drag my feet to not get back early. Now I have to start dropping things to get home on the 25th.
