Hey mats nice job on the rebuild! Thats a good looking ride. What is everyone doing for an aftermarket silencer? Mine is kinda tired as well and I'm in the same boat as everyone else (there to darned expensive). I was thinking of a supertrapp (aluminum race series)? but I don't know if that comes with the mid pipe or if I will need to fabricate one?

Very nice job! Do you ride in the winter? Stud the wheels?

I like the bare metal look on the cylinder better than the black paint. Is it painted silver? Most of the black paint has been removed on mine, from the old gas slowly leaking from the rusted gas tank. I don't know if I'll paint it black or remove all the old paint. Today I found out the last time it ran, was about 5 years ago.

Thanks for the comments and questions!

2wheelsgone, Kedo in Germany www.kedo.com sell Marving and BSM silencers that fit on the stock head pipe. Someone probably sell them in the US too. I'd prefer a Supertrapp for their good looks. I've seen someone selling the mid-pipe somewhere on Ebay but can't find the link now. It was in stainless steel and priced too hi, like 140 USD..

Big Ed, no winter riding for me, I'd freeze!! But I hear it's great fun!

Mudmantra, the cyl and head are bead blasted with glass. Nice smooth surface actually. I'm used too glass blasting roughing it up more. But I don't know how it cleans up when it gets oil and mud on it.

Cheers! /Mats

Recent ride.

Hey guy's, this first photo is from a ride a few weeks ago. If you look close you can see a broken rear shock.

This photo is from a ride last weekend after I replaced the shock's with a set of new progressive shocks.

This is at the end of the day. I didn't show the old girl any mercy on this ride either. The bike held up real well and I didn't have any issues at all. All and all a great day of fun!

I ordered them from my friends over at oemcycle in Loudon TN. They have a website as well. I ordered the shocks and springs seperate and I assembled them. I got the standard spring. It did raise the bike about an inch or so. They made a nice difference in the ride too.

Hey mudmantra I looked those progressive part numbers up in case you or anyone else may be interested in buying.

PS-1240B Magnum O/R shock 15= $152.94
PS-1322B springs O/R series 75/155=$81.94

This is the standard rate spring and everything comes in black.
I'm 5'9'' and weigh in at 180 without my gear on and these are just right for me. I have mine on the first preload setting with my gear on and they work great so I should have plenty of adjustment room after they get broke in.

Here is my XT about two years ago

I bought it for $75 thinking I'd fix it up a little and have a beater bike. That snow balled into a two year, quite expensive project where I replaced nearly everything on the bike. I got it a little past what you see here, and finally go so frustrated with how much time and money it was taking to finish that I parted it out on ebay

At least I got most of my cash back.
