Bad warm start issues

I rode from Phoenix to San Diego today for business. A few times I had some difficulty starting her again after stopping. My instrument gear display is still acting up and goes blank sometimes. When in neutral, it reads 2nd. I can't start it then and pulling the clutch in sometimes does the trick, sometime not. However, I didn't get the green N light once today. I'm stuck here in training all day tomorrow and Sat. and so cannot get to a dealer. Are there any quick, easy, roadside trick fixes to this? I'm a little worried about the ride home, since I will have to stop for gas at least twice.

get in a quiet place an pull in the clutch. If you don't hear it click the microswitch before contacting the grip with the lever get out your 2mm allen and adjust it so it doea. That wont fix the gear indicator, but will make it easy to start.

Just for the hell of it, yesterday I went to try to start the bike, figuring I only had yesterday to have the dealer look at it if necessary. Bike was totally dead. I had it flat-bedded to San Diego BMW, where they quickly diagnosed and repaired it. It was a failed potentiometer in the gear selector switch. Luckily, it was a warranty issue and I just spent $30 on a taxi ride to pick it up. Thank God, I checked this out yesterday instead of today, when I absolutely had to get back to Phoenix. All my worldly possessions are being delivered to my new place tomorrow morning and I'm getting tire of using a cardboard box for my desk and a lawn chair for my office chair.
