Good luck with your venture. I trust that your agenda will keep people far away from these areas.
You would fly into Santiago, from there 45 minutes to Jarabacoa, (the Dominicans call it "God's hammock") with great roads out to Samana. The 30 mile hard packed moutain road from Jarabacoa to Costanza is awesome.

I see your Adv Rider, and raise you a Dominican tow truck.

TW, I'm the guy living in the DR, in Jarabacoa @ "Camp Moto". And I commend you on your input. We absolutely will steer clear of Santo Domingo and the North Coast/Puerto Plata/Sosua/Cabarete (it's too bad, 'cuz SD has some really interesting historic areas). But you get out in other areas, and the riding is excellent! The mountains roads are amazing and the beach highways are unbelievable! And the Samana Peninsula??? Truly one of the most spectacular places on the planet!

If you come down to Las Salinas, your welcome to park your bikes here at our house; were right across from the entrance to the Dunes.

We have a 1000 VStrom, and would join you for a short stretch if it worked.
I've spent years exploring the DR, and have been to Las Salinas several times. I love Las Dunas. Folks don't realize there is an actual desert in the DR. I've never stayed in Las Salinas (there is one hotel with a boat dock I recall), so go there on the way to Barahona.

The Southwest Frontier is where MotoCaribe will establish our second tour route, and your neck of Paradise will be a sure stop. We'll include Barahona, Azua, Bani, Pedernales, Bahia be Aguilas, Lake Enriquillo, Jimani (with maybe a quick border crossing into the maket in Haiti ), and the lesser traveled roads in the area.

Here are a coiuple of pics I've taken of the area in the past:

Alida @ Las Dunas:

The Desert Southwest-who'd a think it?:

The Dominican Naval Base in your neighborhood:

Anciet Tainos (the indiginous people) Face Carvings @ Lake Enriquillo:

"Iguana Beach" @ Lake Enriquillo:

Bus at the Haitian Border @ Jimani:

Look forward to meeting a fellow DR V-Stromer!

Not sure where we will be staying. I will have to ask pops. Some sort of 'all inclusive' resort type deal. I will let you know when I find out.

Actually, something that makes us unique is the tour is accompanied by a 15 passenger minibus, so kids, wifely babes and folks who don't want to ride can come along and enjoy the same island wonders...

So YOU get a riding vacation, and the wife gets that Caribbean vacation you've been promising...
