In my experience if you change springs you should re-valve to match.

I have been extremely happy with the service from Alex at Konflict Motorsports in Redmond WA. http://konflictmotorsports.com/

Thanks,

I have been off an off road bike for 20 years or so, so I am not sure if the stock suspension might get me by for this season? I am afraid that my fatness may overwhelm the rear spring though?

Do you guys see any problem strapping a Giant Loop Mojavi to the back of an '08 450 EXC-R without a tail-rack? I just need it to ride the TET from NJ to FL and then all riding will be local.

I hate to spend $200 for a rack I'll never use again if I don't really need it.

TIA.

No problems at all, I've seen bunch do it and thats what I'm doing also. I did get some 3Mclear tape so the plastic does not get all rubbed ( I'm anal, most would not care since it is a dirt bike afterall. )

Love my GL Mojavi. Works great without racks, that's what they are designed for. You'll hardly know it'd there.
Clear film does help reduce rubbing on the plastic.

The GL Coyote will in fact work better without a rear rack. Crazybrit used his with a rack from Promoto Billet and got a hole from rubbing on the TAT.

The whole idea of a GL bag is you dont use a rack, they tell you that pretty clearly on their site.

Ive been using the Wolfman day tripper side bags,I could do double jumps and they wont move at all, never notice them on singletrack even.
Im tempted to get the bigger size for desert trips.

Using a big rear bag ensures it being jammed full like any bag, easy to end up with too much stuff/weight.

I realize that. I'm not asking if the bag is meant to be used without a rack. The Mojavi can be used on many bikes. I'm asking if the fender/subframe of an '08 EXC-R is stout enough to support the bag.

Apparently, I'll be good to go.

Anybody use the Highway Dirt Bikes top clamps with the computer protectors? I've been geeking at them pretty hard and was wondering if anybody else has tried them on their 530 and what everyones thoughts were on it?

Just installed the HDB top clamp, I did not install the computer case. I am prob going to get it because you can not see the gauge. See Pic. This is a pic if you are sitting on bike.

I have a top clamp like the picture above mounted on top of the surmount Scott's dampener kit from HDB. I also have the computer protector and love it. It's a really clean setup. The directional and high beam indicators move real easy. If you haven't got brush guards...... HDB's are excellent. I put the whole package along with their folding mirrors on my 08 530.

Carb?? What might this be ?

Today I installed t6 carb vent filter. When I took off carb I noticed this on the inside of carb. This was on the engine side. After it dried up I could scrape it off. It was a powdery substance or maybe even waxy.

Looking at a 08 530 xcw

Looking at a 08 530 xcw and wondered what If there is anything in particular I should look for. It was owned by an older rider who used it mostly around town and to get up into the woods. Appears to be in good clean condition, has around 200 hours. Will it need valves and such immediately with that many hours? With no real aftermarket parts other than tail light / lic plate what is its value range?

Thanks-

Nobody here has a crystal ball, its real hard to say what the bike might need. Check valve adjust, check compression, see what happens.
Some guys would be replacing pistons by 200 hours.
The 08's were the year that could have oil burning problems, some did, some didnt.
