It works with the fan and the kick start. It is also no wider than stock, and actually fits better than my stock tank. Here is a pic of the width.

80.2 hours and the valves have not moved one bit!
The one weak point of RFS motors for me was the intake valves. I never made it 20 hours without making at least a minor adjustment, and a set I pulled out at about 120 hours were mushroomed so badly you could have shaved with them. Clearly, the XC4 has beaten that issue.

That is really good news. The berg has preformed similar to the 530 when it comes to valve adjustments.
In my mind valve adjustment alone is reason enough to upgrade. I will be looking forward to more feed back on this bike. And only 80.2 hours. Slacker.

Dear Ned,
I've enjoyed reading your thread re: KTM530EXCR upgrades and farkles. I just purchased one and am in the process of prepping in for the Chabochis meet in October (which is a total blast). My questions are 1) exactly which Akropovic can did you fit and is it USFS approved? 2) I fitted the same hardparts tank and I'm getting 50 mpg plus; the problem is that when the level gets down to the last gallon or so the fuel flow is interrupted even after I switch the petcock to reserve. Have you had this happen? Thanks, Jimmex |

Try KTMtalk.com for jetting specs. Also, most just order up the JDjetting.com kit and go by his specs.

2) No, mine's been fine. I'd suggest pulling the petcock out and blowing it out with some air/ carb cleaner in the event something is lodged in it or the screen is partly obstructed.

It's funny this thread should resurface right now.
A giant stork visited my garage earlier in the week and left something behind: ![]() I'll do a build thread soon... probably right here.

One of my buddies just bought a 530, and I'm stuck on that craggy old 540 clunker for now... ![]()

![]() That said, the new chassis is awesome, the 09 suspension is excellent out of the box, and for some reason, the 09 seems to run stronger than my 08 did (sorry Hair!).
