Wanna lay odds Xmoto never joins the club?

Eh Doc,

you'd you know that KLR...remember when it passed you on the 1st timed section at the Rockhound Rally.

But I suppose your tire wasn't put on properly that time too....

I'd suggest you offer him your 450 since you've given up at 50hrs, but he's lookin for a man's bike

I was runnnig the BD headlight with a Sylvania 55/60 bulb. Not impressive and i was scared running on the street in the dark. Always straining trying to see the edge of the road for animals. It has a very sharp and narrow cut off. Much improved now with a X2 HID.

Question Almost winter here...7cm of snow already!

I hope to ride one more enduro this weekend. And then it's lights out on my first season with the 530.

Out come the wrenches! So what are the plans for winter maintenance?

I just did the brake pads, driveline and rear wheel bearing.

Thinking about brake fluid, clutch fluid, rad fluid, fork oil, front bearings maybe, new grips.

At a 120 hours this year and maybe 150 next year, what preventative maintenance is recommended?

You must mean the time when we were trying to de-water one of the KTM's that submerged itself in five feet of water. My ol' DRZ was cruising along just fine and the tires held. Good ol' tubes!

Definitely haven't given up on the 450, but I don't want to misrepresent the fact that it's given me it's fair share of problems in a short time period. When it works well, it's brilliant.

And, of course, real men don't need strokers to have a good time.

It works great. I've done some night riding with it, it's not a racelight but it is definitely adequate. No idea what bulb, whatever it shipped with, which is presumably low wattage.

I think it's ugly, but it was cheap and has held up well, so in balance, no complaints.

hey guys, i want a new DS bike and I have a few simple questions about the 530's.

What is the average top end interval-hours/miles?
New valve/seats/guides intervals?
Does the subframe need beefed up(or a PMB rack) for a giant loop and light camping gear?
What weight rider is it sprung for?
For typical DS riding which tank will be most likely to give me a 150 mile range? Typical for me would be a mix of single track/double track and back roads.

I am 99% certain the 530 is the bike for me but these questions have been looming. I dont want to need a top end during a trip like the divide ride. SHould I get a Husa instead?

Thanks for any info and I look forward to drinking the orange koolaide soon

1) Should be quite long, my issue on the most recent bike was an outlier. A friend has 7000 miles on his 09 530, still drinks no oil, still runs beautifully.
2) No, assuming you keep "light" in the definition.
3) 170ish without gear. I weigh 200 and went up one rear spring rate (7.6). Fork springs remain stock at .46.
4) The 13L tank should give you 150ish with good jetting and reasonable right wrist activity, but it may be pushing it especially if its soft terrain. It's really nice for trailriding, though. The 21L will be totally safe but a bit more obtrusive.
5) Given the Husaberg shares most motor components, I wouldn't think it will have any greater longevity.

Thanks for all the great info Ned!
I had to fight the urge to go to the local KTM shop saturday. I really want to hold out until i find a good deal on a low hour bike.

I uderstand "light" can be an objective term when talking about camping gear, but I am trying my hardest to become a minimalist.

im 185 before gear so i will need to respring it.

Thanks again and I cant wait to get an orange bike in the stable. I have demo'ed several KTM's and my face always hurts from laughing and grinning so much.

NOT what I would call light camping setup for the 530, I would describe this as heavy.
What you can not see is a pro-moto billet rack under there. That thing is real nice and attaches real solid to 3 beams on the subframe.

1500 miles in baja with no problems. I was flogging it a points on some of the race 2 track as well.

Approximate weights:
Me = 175#
Yellow Wolfman Bag = 20#
tent = 2#
saddle bags sandals and clothes - 1#

awesome man! Is that the 21L tank?

My light set up will just be a small tent(Big Agnes seedhouse 2 ultralight), down bag, some spare socks/underoos and maybe flip flops, spare goggles. Food/water/hygeine will be on my back. Normal tank bag stuff in a small tank bag. Camera, phone, gloves,

How do the vibes on a 530 compare to a LC4? I didnt buy a 690 Duke because of the Vibes. I have a set of Flexx bars to put on a 530 to help kill some vibes.

is it sad I already have parts and a mod list for a bike I havent even purchased yet?

- 13L
- I can not comment on how vibes compare. I know it is better than my buddies 640ADV. But it is still a thumper and I never noticed the vibes... but that is me.
- No that is not sad, but again, that is just me.
